It is the original battery. I have not done anything to the car other than oil/coolant/ tires change. I still have original brakes on the car too. Car has been very good to me just sad to see all these faults on the model. I do burn a lot of oil though, told the dealer but they just said it was normal...

I wouldn't hesitate to change it; it's had a good run. You could assess it's condition (something like Solar BA5), and/or try a charging session. Or at the least measure it's at-rest voltage with a digital mulimeter. But 8 years old, hardly worth it.

Not really, the 12 volt battery is just one of the "consumables"; you can't fault it after this long.

Has anyone had this done? I have no idea what software version my 2012 is on and figured this may be a good thing to do. Wanted to know if anyone had done it and had any negatives or positives to report.
Completed software update for Safety Recall R66 this a.m. Took about an hour to do and there is no noticeable difference in operation. It is 25f here this morning, performance might differ with higher temperatures, will report if so.

I just had it done yesterday. I didn't receive a Toyota notice that the fix was available but when I took my Prius in for it's 6 month checkup yesterday they said that they had the software so I had it done.
So far I have not seen any negative effects.

I had mine done yesterday up here:).

Put over 60 miles on our Prius since and no noticeable change;).

But it took 2 hours as the “master tech” didn’t grace the dealership with his presence until 8 am:rolleyes:.

But I got the notice to schedule an appointment, as I avoid the dealerships at all costs(y).

They start appointments at 7 am;).

So I had to walk the lot and stare at large urban assault vehicles and pick em up trucks:cool:.

Amazing how much one of those costs these days(y).

Toyota Australia's reference number for this recall is JGG76. First mentioned 5 October 2018, the appointment notices are arriving now.
Toyota Australia estimates 1 hour (not 45 minutes) and there is no mention of the possibility that the inverter may need work.

Had mine done this morning. Checked my HV Control calibration IDs in Techstream beforehand, top one was 896B34701800, as expected for a "2010 Prius #2" with E0E done but not J0V. Checked after the job and it's now 896B34732000 as it should be after this recall.

Car only turns left now, so I have to make rights by going around the block, but nothing else seems to have changed.

It also only turns left. Pretty much stays with the car.

Huh. I also noticed my Prius was starting to drift more and more to the left. My solution was to cut off the CNN.

I kept getting turn by turn directions so I turned off the radio and it continued. Then I turned off the cell phone and it continued. Strange thing is it only happens when SWMBO is in the car.

But with the central noetic nexus turned off, the car's right ECU won't know what the left one is doing.

Got the official Toyota safety recall letter JOV the other day. Had the FW reflash done today. So far no noticable differences yet.

I got the letter last week and had this done today. So far I don’t notice any difference in terms of drivability or performance.

As an aside, one of the dealers didn’t even call me back when I called their service department to make an appointment to have this done. I guess they didn’t want to do it or something. Another of my local dealers had no problem welcoming me in for the recall service. Took about two hours.

Also in California we don’t really have a choice whether or not to do the recall because the DMV can refuse to renew your registration if you can’t prove that you’ve done the recall. I think the dealership may even report that you’ve done it to the DMV.

Many safety recalls take forever because either room is scarce at the service center or parts (un)availability .... they don't stock inventory due to costs.

The ones that are firmware updates have to be kept on a special shelf where the bits won't roll off.

I use a barrel shifter to keep my bits from rolling off.
