Can I transplant smart key system into dumb key prius ?

    Hi guys, i just got a 2006 Prius with a dumb key. I have 2 parts prius with smart key systems. I am swapping the interior from the 05. What do i need to swap into the new prius so it has the smart key system ?

    A lot including the MFD. but I don’t think you can swap that with a 2005. I would let it go.

    I have an 05 and an 07 I can use as donors ... I don't mind if it is a lot of work ... Just need a good list of what I need to pull to make the swap.

    And neither one has a 2006 main computer. How is the car going to work/pass emissions with the wrong year computers?

    So .... No one knows for sure or has done it ? I was hoping to have a plan as I have to send the donor Priuses to scrap here soon ...

    I'm in the same situation. I'm driving an '05 with the dumb key system while there's an' 08 with a smart key system sitting in my driveway that won't run because the inverter is bad or so the scan tool says. I would like to have the smart key features in the running '05 too.

    It is my understanding from someone year ago when I inquired the same, that you cannot and it's because of the lack of the sensors. I'm not sure who you can talk to other than possibly Auto be Yours, or any Prius based rebuilder who have the expertise and could sell you any parts directly, which would be better than tearing apart a perfectly good car that just needs an inverter. Frankly, just buy a used one of those and drive the other car...

    But if you find an answer for sure please post here so that I know. I have two Prius and one of them at 300,000 miles could be a candidate for the 250,000 mile vehicle.
