My 2010 Prius, It's official, 1qt oil every 4,000 miles

    Toyota trying to eke a bit more mpg status, with pistons and rings that don't stand up?

    @Raytheeagle seems to have mitigated his oil consumption by using BG EPR every oil change to clean the engine, then adding BG MOA to the oil and BG 44K to the fuel tank. Maybe worth a shot at your next oil change to try it. The EPR and 44K are designed to clean out carbon, MOA to keep the oil basic and lasting longer.

    I kept the oil consumption from getting worse using those products as well as going up on viscosity;).

    End up at 0w-40 with an oil consumption rate of a quart every 5-6k miles:).

    Not too bad(y).

    I'm from Brazil, here Toyota used for a long time the 10w40 in their cars, now recommends the 5w30

    40 weight is the best for our cars. Been using 0w-40 Mobil 1 for sometime now. No oil burning.
