OBD2 can communicate with engine- no battery info- works on other Prius

Try your phone on the other Prius that loaned you the scanner... Perhaps the problem is with your phone? If the battery data you can't see in Dr. Prius app can't be seen by the car's computer you'd have a red triangle that wouldn't clear and car wouldn't go anywhere but into neutral.

 

In that case I'd inspect the plug socket for anything unusual and try to see if Hybrid Assisstant App has the same problem. Also try a different OBD2 reader... Many OBD2 readers are problematic... I have bought identical readers and some of them will work with Dr. Prius, but not Hybrid Assistant, also compatibility with other people's phones has been a hassle. Never heard of the car being the source of it not working though. Also, the person who created Dr. Prius app wrote this article about which OBD2 readers are junk: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus And last resort after exhausting these options contact person who wrote Dr. Prius app and tell them what your error screen says about your car not being compatible. The person who built the app will likely be interested in fixing that if it actually a fault in their app.

 

Yes, that would explain it... At this point it's a matter of tracking down all the after market wiring work in the dashboard and trying to neutralize that which is not letting the signal to reach the OBD2 port. I suspect the cab had a bypass of some sort to record vehicle data elsewhere. If I were you I'd research the name of the company that normally puts after-market systems into the cabs in your part of the world and then contact them and tell them the problem. Alternatively, you could put your battery pack in a friends car to get the data. But seems to me that you'll feel more comfortable about your car going forward if you get this problem solved.
