    Good afternoon, all!

I bought a newer'ish 2017 Toyota Prius II and its in perfect condition, except it appears one of the exterior trim panels (part # 62505-47011 - that black triangular shape in the middle of the photo, but on my right passenger side) got scratched up and the clear coat is peeling off at the sight of that scratch...

I have a local place who will order the part for me but I cannot find a video on how to install as right now -things are weird and we are in quarantine so ultimately I wanted to try to do it myself... if you all say its a terrible idea to attempt it myself - I will wait until post-quarantine and have it done by the shop but the labor is pretty pricey, unfortunately.
    Thanks for your help!

It just pulls straight off. There are some plastic clips and some double-back tape so there is some resistance. grab at the front edge and pull "out" and back... it's easy!

And, there's a lot of those peeling. Was it a recall item or no? Maybe not.

Yes I seem to remember that some dealers were replacing them FOC.

    Interesting... thanks for the tip.

Are we talking like bottom edge or the side edge that’s exposed when the door is open? And do I need a butter knife?

Maybe there is a video but I’m not putting in the right search terms?

Thank you. Tried google several times but I’m guessing the terminology words I was searching for was not grabbing what was needed... I don’t usually ask for help unless I’ve exhausted all other avenues ;)

Here is a diagram that may help. You can also order official replacement parts from them. Or from your toyota dealer.

The part number from the links below is "62505-47011." You can google image search that and see where the pins are that you need to pry off.

I see that this conversation is from last year, hopefully I can get a few answers. Does anyone currently know if there was a recall/replacement program for this? And anyone out there know if the c pillar exterior black cover is the same for the prius prime as the regular prius in this discussion. Thanks, any words on this would be a great help

I don’t know of a customer support program or service campaign that would cover this part after the warranty expires, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask your Toyota dealer for goodwill consideration.
According to parts.toyota.com, the same quarter pillar cover sub-assemblies, part numbers 62505-47011 (RH) and 62506-47011 (LH), are used on fourth-generation Prius and Prius Prime cars.

And these part numbers are different from the original parts that failed. The replacement panels I installed with the above part numbers are aging gracefully.
