Looks like there’s an arrow on the lid too. Maybe a good place to start prying.

Any recommendations on where I should order a fuel pump from?
I hear that the 2010-11 fuel pump connector is different from the 2012-2015 fuel pump connector.

You can get an aftermarket from most auto supplies and Amazon. Or an OEM 23220-47010 pump or 77020-47081 assembly from several online or local dealers. I would check the connector issue. Did you prove the pump was bad?

The fuel pump makes loud noises and then stops running. If I tap the top of the gas tank, I can get the pump to run again.

I ordered the Delphi FE0670 fuel pump from Rock Auto. The connectors do NOT match.
I need the harness adapter or I will have to modify the connector to fit the pump.
    The install has been easy.

I did not check the relay. Where can I find the fuel pump relay?

The relay is up front in the engine compartment. It is unlikely to be the problem if tapping the fuel pump makes it work again. A2F40521-3356-44EE-9487-F3A007C17172.jpeg

New fuel pump is installed. I can't hear the fuel pump running, which I am going to assume is a good thing!

Sounds like you win and the dealer who said bad hv battery is suspect. Good thing the hv battery refurb guy was honest.

    4,000 mile update:
    Vehicle runs without issue!

I need to check the seal on the sending unit. When I take sharp turns, I sometimes smell gas a few minutes later. I pulled the back seat and tank cover and found gasoline on top of the sending unit.

very very cool thread. thank you for documenting it here and coming back with an update!

I was skeptical of the fuel pump but your diagnosis skills exceed mine obviously.

    very cool !
