So when I got my 2017 Prius Prime it came with a 3 year subscription to the Safety connect/remote services. Unfortunately that expired so I renewed the service because I wanted to still be able to use the remote climate. I was able to doenload the app and it recognized my car but the remote climate and charge management says please refresh. I refreshed and it does nothing. I called customer support and they inform me that I never had remote services and that my car is not equipped for that. She claims to have gone to 3 different supervisors that all agreed with her. o_O Anyone else having this problem?

I am having a similar problem with my new to me 2019 prime advanced. It won't take my contract id. I have seen similar posts saying try it after a few days but still no luck.

I was wanting to use the prime apps. I thought they just dropped entune on newer vehicles. Have they discontinued support all together?

I renewed the Safety Connect on my 2017 Advanced when it expired after three years in 2019, and all of the Prime Apps work fine now (I just checked). In their nomenclature, "Prime Apps" are what is called remote services now, such as Vehicle Finder, Charge Management, and Remote Climate. They have dropped almost all of the Entune media apps such as Pandora in my model, and added Alexa. In the 2017-2019 Prime, only the Advanced trim has the built in cell phone required for SafetyConnect (and the Prime Apps). Of course, I have no idea what will happen when it comes time to renew it again next year if I still have this car. They could just say that they have discontinued support for remote apps in my model, and when your current contract expires, the remote functions die.

See your dealer, preferably the one who sold you the car.
Hopefully you have all the original paperwork and they can help you sort this out.

Have been getting the "Remote Activation is Pending," "Your remote services are being activated. The activation process may take up to 24 hours," and "Refresh Status" messages on the Toyota App My Garage tab since early January.

I am on the phone with Toyota about this now, and also am being told that the 2017 Prius Prime never had the remote climate and charge management capability. I have pointed out the instructional video on their official YouTube channel on how to use the remote charge management at
. Plus here is a dealer page describing those features at https://www.toyotavacaville.com/blog/2017-toyota-prius-prime-apps/.

I was able to use the remote services until my latest renewal in early January 2022.

They finally found an advocate who was able to find the remote services thru the Toyota app, they are working on a resolution and gave me a case number. So hopefully success in another day or two.

It is funny, I was just on the phone with Toyota about this. My Entune app points me to the Toyota app and doesn’t work. Then the Toyota app stays “activating” the remote connect services indefinitely. The representative found out that they haven’t pulled this car model/year over to the new remote connect yet. Thank you for bringing it to their attention! If you’re case doesn’t see movement, I’ll open one up as well. I have a feeling the Safety Connect I am paying for is not connected right now either.
    Cheers!

I have a 2017 Advanced. All of the remote services work on the Toyota App EXCEPT for Vehicle Finder/Last Parked Location. This includes the remote climate control and charge management functions. With the update I received on March 8 for the Android version of the app, the Eco History now works (it no longer says "server not found"). The finder functionality worked fine on the Entune App before that app was decommissioned.

Sounds like confusion on Toyota's end.

There were reports of Toyota making a shift in remote services not too long ago. The big part that reached the headlines was remote start for cars becoming part of the subscription service. The outcry against that lead to Toyota making changes in their plan. Which could lead to poor info from Toyota reps we see here.

Hi there, I’m new to the site and just purchased a 2017 Prime advanced. So if I understand correctly I can call Toyota and ask them to open a ticket to activate my remote connect. I just subscribed to the safety connect and they told me that was the only service Subscription my car had access to. (After doing something called a 15 minute drive cycle, I just can’t remember if they told me to hit the SOS button before or after I do so )
But when I signed up for the Toyota app it said my car had capability for safety AND remote connect. Has anyone had success or official word from Toyota that we will have access to remote connect features such as remote climate control and unlock and lock capabilities? Also doesn’t anyone know if the KeyConnect app will work once I finally figure out how to activate safety connect (or anyone recall if we gotta push SOS before or after the 15 minute drive cycle?)
Love the plethora of info here guys thanks, especially the “secret” charge mode!! Thanks for the help!!

How did you get this to work?! I can’t even get the Toyota app to show my odometer or anything else except “remote services are pending this can take up to 24 hours…” blah blah blah

it took a bit... 75 minutes on the fone... i asked if there was a better number to call, and they did not... but it had to escalate thru brand services a few times before they figured out who knew something besides 'you never had remote connect'...

i just checked... remote services appear to be working... small wonders never cease...

Including Vehicle Finder/Last Parked Location? That is the one I care about.

Everything worked fine on the Entune App. It was when they decommissioned it and moved to the Toyota App that all the problems started.

It seems that people who never had the Safety Connect/ Advanced Apps before are the ones having the most grief getting Toyota App to "activate". I just logged in and it worked (minus the vehicle finder functionality).

i never used the car finder, will have to look into that once i get these two sevices fixed...

I'll guess the car's ability to charge up the battery from the engine. It is in the manual, but can be called a secret because you press and hold down one of the mode buttons to activate it. There is nothing to let you know the car has the ability from sitting in the driver's seat.

I just got off the phone with them and they said they’ve opened a ticket and will be contacting me tomorrow to “do the update” ‍♀️ So we will see how it goes. Will update when I have something to update. Thanks for the help!

App started randomly working this morning. But still only have access to remote start and charge management. Sent another gripe about it. Still no option or access to remote services like I was promised by dealer and manuals. This is all I get. Still no alerts to opened doors or trunks, tire pressure readings, etc.
