First Maintenance for my car

    It was my mom's car and I got it for college. Very sick car, saves me so much on gas, I love my Prius. However, I realized that the cover for the front underneath (idk what it's called) was falling off. Went to the shop and they told me it $400 for the repair + $200 for oil change and brake pad replacement. The oil change and brake pad seem alright, but I was wondering if it was standard for that repair to be so high? Too late now because I'm picking it up later today, but I just wanted to know for sure.

    Unfortunately plastic parts always seem unusually expensive. It’s not technically necessary. Mine was “salvaged” by the dealer by zip tying it up. That was the best dealer experience I’ve had. They squeezed me in before a holiday long weekend and didn’t charge me for it.

    Will note that next time. It's actually the first time I ever got a repair. I didn't know what I could and couldn't ask for. He did order new parts and replaced it so it's not like he zip tied it for me and charged for the parts, and he did also say that it was mostly the parts the were expensive. Guess that's just bad rng

    Not sure but she's definitely been used. And the bottom has always been an issue because my drive way is unevenly sloped, and quite steep, so parking it after a drive always scratches the bottom a little.

    Are you saying you have not read the odometer? It could be it is hidden by the Trip A, or B or just blank. You should have a TRIP button somewhere that will cycle through the various odometer displays.
    A technique for not scraping the front bumper is to approach the slope at an angle rather than straight on.

    I bought an OEM replacement underbody panel for my Gen III and it cost around $250. Easy enough to replace, just be gentle with the fasteners. $200 for an oil change/brake pads doesn't sound too bad.

    Odometer also displays whenever the car’s turned off, for about 30 seconds.
