Finally did the plugs at 124k miles so not too late. I was dreading the work but watch a 4:20 youtube video so it was pretty quick. Just make sure you have a deep socket 14mm and lucky a neighbor had one. Drives much much smoother and my mileage jumped. My old plugs didn't looked fouled. I would have done it at 100k but all the posts I read seemed like it didn't make much of a difference. I only drove a couple miles so lets see after 1000 miles. I used NGK Laser Iridium ILKAR7BII 4912. I think the rust looking stuff on the plugs was anti seize.

Don’t take it the wrong way; just cheap insurance: hang onto the old plugs for a while.

Yeah I usually do that to make sure. As soon as it started up it was smoother and more quiet. I could tell when the engine would crank up it seemed slightly rough so one plug was probably fouling ish. I'll report back with my positive thinking ;)

Correct, so I purchased them when I hit 110k and finally had a day I could do it.

gotcha. your mention of 100k made me think that you thought that was the interval

Yeah, I just meant if I'd known my engine was running rough because of plugs I would have changed sooner. Since I'll never change them ever ever again and they aren't expensive then couldn't hurt to change them a little sooner. I'll report back so we know if it was indeed the plugs

No, I better google to check it out. I see a youtube covering cleaning out the egr pipe. Maybe that's some good preventative maintenance.

Did you happen to jot down the ECM data list "misfire margin" from before and after the plug change?

Good job! I have everything ready (new Denso plugs, new manifold gaskets, new throttle body gasket, etc) to change out the plugs on my daughters 2012 Sienna...have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to those three plugs on bank 1 so will take me a few hours. Going to also clean up her throttle body since I'll be in there. Those plastic electrical connectors on the coils are the scariest part...the small plastic tabs get old and brittle and have been known to break so I use a small pry tool to gently lift up on one end while pushing down on the other end with my finger to remove.
But the hardest part with maintaining my daughters' vehicles are actually getting my hands on them for a few hours...they are very busy people!

Oh lord, you need to remove intake manifold? It’s a V right?

I hear you: I’ve been just wrapping oil change and tire rotation on our daughters (ex) Pilot, struggling with behemoth wheels, while she’s tapping a toe, late for “something”. I think I didn’t mix them up.

Yep, she has the V-6 with AWD. So I have to remove the wipers, plastic cowl, metal cowl, air manifold, throttle body, and all the connectors/hoses to such. I'm looking forward to it, actually! He van needs just about everything so I'm trying to get my hands on it (fluid changes on front/rear diffs, transmission, transaxle, oil change) And she just told me her brakes are making noises....ARGH
