2005 Prius with about 160k miles. Red Triangle and the P3000 code came up. Powers on with all the dash lights and monitor, no start though. Could it be the starter? Anyways, I bought a new 12v and that did nothing. Any suggestions would be awesome.

A little history on the car? Did all this happen out of the blue? Has car been sitting? Is there gas in the car?

Hey! Thanks for replying. The previous owner said it did sit for a couple months and I am not sure if there is gas in it since the gas gauge is flashing with full bars.

The previous owner said it died on the road suddenly, then started back up, then eventually died again.

I will fill it with some gas and see where that gets me.

Any other inputs would be great. If someone can help me diagnose the problem and chat over a phone call, I can pay you. 715-201-9153

Try putting 3 gallons of gas in it and try to start it again. Make sure the 12v battery is good too.

The fuel gauge flashing with FULL bars is unusual. On a loss/restoration of 12v power, it will flash one dot until it recalibrates itself.

Full Bars flashing could be trying to give you a flash code or just be indicative of a communication issue.

What are you using to check for codes? P3000 is a code that says "hey, the HV battery ecu says it sees a problem- go check there for codes". So whatever you use to scan the car has to be able to check all modules on a Prius for codes. Many here will get a mini VCI cable with a bootleg copy of Techstream (Toyota's diagnostic software) and install it on an old windows laptop.
