Has anyone had their battery pack replaced onsite in Arizona. I'm not talking about at a dealer.

I live in Prescott and while there are aftermarket/independent shops in the Phoenix Metro area, I really don't want to drive 2 hours to drop the car off, drive back to Prescott, then back to Phoenix to pick the car up. That is 8 driving hours and requires two cars.

I've found two companies that say they come to your location:

Has anyone (particularly in Arizona) used one of these companies to have the Gen 2 battery pack replaced?

I have a green tec in one car I guess it’s rebuilt battery . At the price points it seems things are cleaned up a bit and put back into service . For that 7 to 950 plus cash I’ll add till l get to the 13 or 14 hundred and try n get It correct . The original Toyota battery made 20 years. At least mine did

Most battery pack rebuilders are doing it mobile... But Toyota doesn't sell OEM packs to these folks, but DIY is easy. It takes a couple hours or less to swap out a pack once you've done it a few times; but way, way longer the first time. Regardless, any reasonably skilled car nerd can learn how to do it. Maybe you know someone? Friends you can ask to help you out?

Some Prius packs are more difficult teachers than other Prius packs,

I used GreenTec for a Camry hybrid pack years ago. No problems quick service
However you may want to compare prices these days. OEM prices and aftermarket are converging. I’d go OEM any day over aftermarket if prices are similar.

I forgot to mention that GreenTec makes house calls, not much $ but not for free.

Steve Keith does mobile, not sure if Prescott, but give him a call. Some links to his discussions on PriusChat.

When I used Greentec the Camry was in Tucson and could have had them come out to change it but opted instead to drive up to Phoenix and get it installed at their shop. You make an appointment and can wait for it to get done. Used to take a couple of hours. The prices for Greentec new cell refurbished packs has increased of late by 30%. They make quality packs but I think I’d go OEM if a Toyota shop would deal on it.

Even if the Toyota dealer would meet the price for the battery pack, their outrageous labor rates are a deal killer. I looked at GreenTec but there is the back and forth to Phoenix which I'm trying to avoid. Right now, the Hybrid2Go looks the best but was hoping someone had used them or Green Bean Battery.

Yes, I could probably do the swap myself but it would be the first and only time, so I figured it would be best to use an experienced technician. Plus, then I don't have to pay the core charge plus shipping to get the old pack back to them.

Can you clarify? What problems did you have with their battery or service?

They recycle used cells, not install new cells. Greentec offers both recycled used cells and new cells options. But like I said, their prices have increased substantially this past year, making them closer to OEM. All depends on how long you intend to keep car. Short term then go cheap, long term go OEM if you can afford it. Greentec is an option in between but you have to shop around. They will give you a firm quote if you call.

OK, I may ask Greentec for a quote with installation up here along with quote from Hybrid2Go. It is more short-term as the car is 17.5 years old now (as is the battery!).

I think greentec and hybrid2go are the more pricey options for more than short term. All depends on what you mean by short term

Greentec & Hybrid2Go are so far the lowest priced I've found at $1250 & $1199 respectively before tax. The install charge if any may be the determine factor.

No, new ones are in the $2K area from Greentec. I've sent an email to my local dealer parts department asking the price of a new OEM battery; hopefully when they open on Monday I'll get a response.
