if it were the battery, you would have a trouble code

I did clean the battery cooling fan like a month ago. It wasn't that dirty.
We did not clean the intake manifold. I hadn't showed my husband that video yet. I mentioned it and it is one thing that he is a little leary of doing. He let's me know that he is by no means a mechanic. But it's that it's attached to the engine and he doesn't want to mess anything up!!

It's just really weird that I can drive the car without the ac and it's fine, but the moment I turn it on, it starts having major hesitation in stop and go.

I think I might check the 12v battery too! I bought it about 2 years ago. But I noticed my back up camera not coming on sometimes and the doors not wanting to lock. The last time that happened, the car ended up needing jumped off a couple weeks later then the new battery!

A/C is electric, so auxiliary battery condition is an easy first issue to review.

Ok! As soon as I find out how to do that!!
Yeah I have been driving without the ac and it has been smooth, no issues with 45mpg and the hv battery stays between half and full.

And by any chance, do you know the best time to check the 12v battery? I went to advanced auto after driving for a couple hours and they said the battery was good.

First check in the morning after an overnight rest. Not after driving and charging.

Thank you! I figured out how to use the onboard diagnostic. I turned it on this morning after it sat since 7 pm. So a good 14 hours. It said 12.5, then when I put the load on it, by turning the car on, it dropped to 11.2, .5, 12 then jumped to 14.2

12.5 through the car display sounds good, it’s likely higher though, and a digital multimeter reading with the car off is more reliable.

The 14 volts follows the auxiliary battery firing up the car electronics, HV battery relays, and charging system.

So I did check my ac radiator fans. They do come on with ac. I have been driving the whole week in 100 degree heat without the ac and the car has been normal!! So I am just at a loss for things to check for now. But thankfully I am still able to work, even if I am sweating like a pig!!

Is the electrically driven A/C system fully charged?

Probably not. We have never charged it in the last two and half years. Not sure if the previous owners did. It still runs cold so I didn't think that it would need it! But ‍IDK
