idk, it could be. weight is always an issue, and space is hard to come by

Hard to tell from this angle but if it’s fore of the rear suspension, maybe there’s enough space?

While the pack is longer than a seats length, I think a spare could fit. It will just be left out for other reasons. The improved battery packaging helps out for adding a spare later vs the out going model.

My choice has become clear: 2023 Prius Prime SE in black/black. It would be a bonus if it came with parking sensors.

Spare tire or not, I will get it.

XSE and XSE Premium get only 33 miles in EV driving vs. 40 miles of SE. Therefore, for me, XSE and XSE Premium are not viable alternatives. The 21% extra EV range of SE is a lot!

Unknown, the pack appears to end at the rear axle. The cargo area extends past that.

The raised cargo floor deck seems to have two sections. The most aft one is larger, and lifts for the storage cubbies or spare. the other is right behind the rear seat. My guess is the Prime battery could be extending into where that second panel. Or to put it another way, the new Primes battery is under the rear seat, and also takes up some of the space that the battery was at in the gen 2 and 3 Prius, though lower down. The platform is probably using pieces from the e-TNGA set.

I'm going by the cut away photo @Tideland Prius posted above for the battery position.

Taking another look at the manual illustrations in post #135, the tray and spare take up the entire cargo floor. If the battery does extend rear of the seat, it will be beneath them from the photo.

The Gen 5 Prius Prime PHEV battery does not extend into the cargo area.

I doubt SE will get a spare. XSE and XSE Premium may get a spare. However, who cares about XSE and XSE Premium because of their poor fuel economy and poor EV range.

I said extends rear of the seats, not into the cargo area. Judging from the photo, if it does so, it sits under the cargo area.

That's what I meant. It does not extend past the back of rear seats. The Gen 4/Gen 5 Prius cargo area with the seats up is very short. The battery hardly reaches the front of the rear wheel according to the picture. The back of the seats is further behind.

Looks to almost reach the rear axle, and the pack itself looks longer than a seat bottom.
But it is a single picture without clear reference to the car's body.

If you look at the picture in the previous page, the spare is located all the way to the rear of the trunk. It is not near the rear seats.

My guess is that all Gen 5 Priuses and Prius Primes will come with exactly the same spare-tire nest. Toyota is not going to make cars with different trunks in this supply-chain-shortage era. Note that Prius and Prime are practically the same car in Gen 5. The only difference will be whether they will get a spare tire, storage trays, or a lower deck for more space and less weight. There will not be a difference in chassis.

The cargo tray and spare tire mount are inserts. No change to the chassis for them, or without, is needed in the chassis.

As I said, the spare tire sits all the way to the rear. I meant the whole metal parts by the chassis. It should be the same across the trim lines as well as Prius and Prius Prime.
