I have a 2013 PriusC with 135K miles that it looks like may need a new hybrid battery. In my area, this costs around $3000. Is it worth it or should I just get a new car?

Wow, how did you get such a good range out of your Hybrid battery? I was only able to get 70,238miles out of my brand new 2013 Prius C and then bought a new battery direct from Japan, am I driving my car wrong?

Usually it has the effect of totally resetting the clock- the car will drive like new.

Now, it doesn't do anything for the paint, stereo, headlights or interior.

So that's how you should think of it. If the rest of the car is in great shape (and you still like it) then get the battery done. If not, time to trade.

If you are enjoying the car, get the battery. If $3000.00 sounds high, try greenbeanbattery.com. They offer the same warranty as a Toyota dealer, the price is around $1700, and they do the installation at your location. Worth a look.

As a daily driver but I'm assuming with the low mileage I'm not driving it enough which by the sounds of it wore the Hybrid battery out quicker, plus I live in Canada so a colder climate? 317 miles, wow that's really impressive!

I believe there is a balance between too little and too much driving for the longevity of the traction battery. Your 7k miles / year average driving is not a problem as long as you don't let the battery SOC drop too low. My 2012 C has 110k miles on it, and has been parked in my garage for almost 3 years. I just turn it on every 3 months to check/charge the battery. The battery SOC bars barely change during the 3 month sleep.

The cold climate itself is not a major problem either. Actually heat, along with charge/discharge cycles, is the enemy of the battery. Make sure your battery fan is not clogged.
