My TPMS stopped working 8 years ago, I never replaced them= I just monitor the tire pressure on my own.

And what about the dashboard warning light?

    What about it, lol.

We're looking at that light about 5 months out of the year, when the snow tires are on. It gets easier.

Just do a quick walk-around the car before getting in to check the tires. Some folks will, even, give them a kick to make sure they aren't soft.

OK, but to be clear, after the TPMS batteries fail, that dash warning light stays on, and can’t be turned off?

Correct...it's a safety feature, no way to turn it off unless you got behind the dash and disconnected the wire from the light.

I covered the TPMS warning light with double sided tape on an Indian Head Nickle, that I place over the warning light.
No more TPMS light...You can use double sided tape on a regular Nickle or Quarter to cover the light

I wonder if anyone was brave enough to set the ID to all 0s to see if it disables…

I've just had the second one stop transmitting, two years and a bit after the first one.

But the one that just stopped was ok right until the tire it was in got burst by a fallen rock in Yellowstone, and has not worked at all since the tire was replaced. So I can't say for sure whether it was about to poop out from old age anyway, or got killed by the bursting of the tire, or got damaged when the nearby Walmart replaced the burst tire.

If you get the Chinese one I'll tell you it last 3 years if it works at all. First-hand knowledge here
