Finally the lowest 2" layer, it supports the middle layer.
In many places it needs some additional foam spacers below it to contact the floor pan for support.

Don't forget to put a bolt in the middle so that spare tire isn't a projectile in a frontal collision

Thanks for the diagrams, I must have missed them. Looking forward to seeing your final results (and cost), and detailed pictures of what the "if equipped" configuration really looks like.

It has one, the one that came with the spare from the Toyota C-HR fit just fine.

From @Hammersmith 's thread here: OEM spare tire install | PriusChat we know there is a different floor/deck board.

And you can see it here:

It's got some spacers stuck on to be supported by the wheel/tyre, and maybe it's thicker.

If those blocks are the only difference, I'm going to be annoyed I didn't see this video before ordering. lol

I assumed the difference is pretty minor, but I also assumed the difference is a lot more sophisticated than just some foam blocks glued to the bottom.

And before anyone says anything, the graphic for the spare tire size is wrong. You can read the real size on the tire itself(145/90/16), and it matches the manual.

Something I find mildly humorous in that video is that they put the wrong cargo mat in that car. That mat is meant to only go in the low-floor models like the LE in the US. While the Mexican Prius shown in the video is basically an LE in most ways, the spare tire option gives it a high-floor, so it should have gotten the same rectangular mat that comes with the XLE, LTD, and all the Primes.

Good spot - I managed to pay attention to the car, but wasn't paying full attention to the text.

I thought you'd managed to restrain yourself on your the "full" solution :)

I did until I saw the Japan price for the board was only about $60. And the board isn't going to make the shipping box all that much bigger because the foam pad for the spare is almost the same size. At that point, I figured what the heck.

I also just noticed that Mexico gets the auto-folding side mirrors with the turn signal indicators.
