curious about the angle of the bkup camera. on my 2021 I can see part of the rear bumber and a sliver of the license plate. I dont recall that on my previous gen3 2010 model however that one didnt have the blue and red grid either. is this normal?

If it's like my 2017, I hate that the white line aren't even close to the size of the car. When I park my car in the driveway (with a sidewalk beside it), the "white line" is about a foot within the sidewalk for the tires to be at the edge of the sidewalk.

I noticed that on my 2020 as I regularly back into a spot with white lines. It may be to account for mirror clearance in certain cases like backing up along a wall. Or getting by a fence post happily and then the mirror spoils the day.

IMHO, that backup camera is only good for making sure you don't hit the bumper behind you. No predictive or directional lines as your backing up.
I installed a backup camera on my 2002 GMC SUV more than a decade ago. Paid $150, including a double DIN head unit display - even that had predictive/directional lines as I backed up. I get right under the trailer hitch, every-time.

I have steering wheel angle lines on mine which are in yellow and move with the steering wheel and the blue lines show the current position of the wheels. I find I can get the car nicely centred into a parking spot pretty good using the camera.

I can see right to the ground to get the rear parking spot corners on pavement perfectly at the rear bumper. I don’t think it sees the license plate have to look again.
I definitely don’t need more than the straight backup lines which correspond to the actual car body. I back in almost all the time for my free charging and my own home. My brain sees the path of the accurate car body lines, absolutely no problem getting in the spots perfectly, no benefit at all to have curved lines. The straight lines are a fixed reference, it’s actually better.

Here's what I meant. See the lines protruding over the sidewalk while my tires were just at the edge of it.

That allows for the mirrors. It should be like that.

Too bad they didn't put two sets of line, one for mirrors and one for the body of the car. When aligning with the sidewalk or even a curb, mirrors are irrelevant.

To answer your actual question: yes it is normal.

Ok, so while backing up to park by the road, I noticed that the passenger side camera line is actually in line with the curb. My right side tires were almost touching the curb and the backup camera line was right at that spot too. Odd that it's different for the driver side...

Ok, so I was backing up, not at home and the left line were where they needed to be, just over the curb, which was less than an inch from my tires. Only thing I can think off, the curb is higher than my sidewalk at road level and slant angle messes up the location of the lines.
