Another lost-image outlier/cockroach in this post.

Let's see if posting the image on a site like Imgur and adding a link here works ..

    Yep, works.

An interesting thing I noticed, if you reply or quote the post the image is there in the editor pane:
But shows as broken when you post it.

@Danny ... A sobering illustration of something needed sooner than later:

In June, my coworker of 23 years, who handled all admin, paperwork, books, etc for our organization... Was suddenly in the ICU in a coma. She never woke up, and was gone a week later.

I have access to all of her stuff. Even so:
    * only now am I close to being able to get a paycheck
    * it was horrific getting past the software bugs and more in the services etc we use.

My point: you *need* a trusted friend who has current access to the tech you control. Nobody knows when you will be taken out. (I myself have personal experience with that as well.)

I think it's a pattern, not some outliers. Here's another post with the cached image link broken. We could probably be here a long time flagging affected posts one by one.

@Danny, if you're thinking the cache might somehow rebuild itself on a schedule, is there a way to kick that off early and see if it does?

Safari 13.1.2 (13609.3.5.1.5) on MacOS 10.13.6 can’t establish a secure connection to “priuschat.com”; no problem on my new IPad. Sure would like to have priuschat back on my desktop! Any suggestions?

Switch to windows :p But you can also try another browser like Firefox. I think the Firefox for MacOS has its own engine (Gecko), unlike the one for iOS which is just a shell over safari, thanks to Apple's restrictions.

I’ve reached the limit on this OS; would have to get a new Mac. There was never a problem on the previous server. Why now?

As you know you can trust the link, just click on the "show anyway" link – I can't remember the exact phraseology – but hopefully you'll know when you see it. You will have to push through some other scary-sounding warnings, but as long as you are sure of the link in the first place, you will be okay.
Probably related to the site's certificate.

@Danny, since you closed the shop, would you be willing to reveal your sources for the various products?

In my case I need to replace a right rear Euro Style Mudguard -- and have been 100% unable to find what you sold anywhere else!

An old post and a new post with the same image, broken, though the image can be viewed by putting its original URL into a browser.

HI @Danny the work around of using cut & paste to post photos instead of upload is working less often. I'll paste a photo and it will show up an then vanish.

I suspect this is some type of antiquated security filter for images that hasn't been updated in a long time. I bet all these image upload issues go away once you upgrade to the newest forum software.

My own suspicion is that some of the cached-image data relied on by proxy.php did not get migrated over with complete success.

It's possible (@Danny has speculated) that some automated cache rebuild will make it all better. I'm not sure how hopeful I am of that, but I suspect a bit of hands-on repair could be possible using the complete backed-up data Danny says was kept from the old server.

What I'd worry about in waiting until after the software upgrade is that enough could change in the database schema between versions that, afterward, an attempt to re-merge the lost data from the backup could be much more of a technical challenge.
