Rear Window Wiper...

    As I imagine many of you know the, 11" long wiper blade on the rear window is just too small to give good coverage, and it appears that one could install another wiper up to 16" long and get away with it. Has anyone tried this? If so will you tell me the name and model of said blade, or better yet provide a part number?

    The problem with that is that the mount for the rear wiper is such as it is You would be better off looking for a rear wiper arm with a longer blade assembly on it I haven't really thought about this is I haven't turned on the rear wiper in about 10 years but anyway I would think that could possibly be a thing but finding a wiper itself to fit on the mount that we have and say even 15 or 14 in might be a stretch I have replaced my rear wiper once on all the Gen 2's that we have but we never use them I hadn't really looked or thought about another assembly but I would look to change probably the arm with blade from some other car or whatever could be worked at which may be tricky because of the angle and offset but should be doable If I see anything when I'm out and about looking in the junk yards I'll make a note of it but I would think a lot of imports with wipers and rear windows and similar fashion and angles there should be a few choices The mounting cone that the arm drops on and the nut screws too is fairly standard.

    Not sure where the 11" is coming from. Far as I know our 2007 has a stock arm and blade and it looks just like the one in the link. RockAuto lists rear blades as 16" too. I just ran the wiper (on one of our perpetually dusty windows) and the closest the distal part of the sweep came to the (top) edge of the glass was about 1.3". The proximal part is far from the hub - no clearance problem there. So it looks like an 18" blade could be mounted on it for a little more useful coverage. Assuming it didn't run into some part of the arm itself, and you didn't mind it sticking out awkwardly beyond the arm. 19" is too long, it would wipe the roof. I don't know if the mounting hardware on the arm is compatible with non-OEM blades or if an adapter is needed.

    The mount is kind of strange and the length of the wiper frames are limited when I've looked before anyway maybe things have changed I am not sure
