As I imagine many of you know the, 11" long wiper blade on the rear window is just too small to give good coverage, and it appears that one could install another wiper up to 16" long and get away with it. Has anyone tried this? If so will you tell me the name and model of said blade, or better yet provide a part number?
    Thanks, Community!

The problem with that is that the mount for the rear wiper is such as it is You would be better off looking for a rear wiper arm with a longer blade assembly on it I haven't really thought about this is I haven't turned on the rear wiper in about 10 years but anyway I would think that could possibly be a thing but finding a wiper itself to fit on the mount that we have and say even 15 or 14 in might be a stretch I have replaced my rear wiper once on all the Gen 2's that we have but we never use them I hadn't really looked or thought about another assembly but I would look to change probably the arm with blade from some other car or whatever could be worked at which may be tricky because of the angle and offset but should be doable If I see anything when I'm out and about looking in the junk yards I'll make a note of it but I would think a lot of imports with wipers and rear windows and similar fashion and angles there should be a few choices The mounting cone that the arm drops on and the nut screws too is fairly standard.

Not sure where the 11" is coming from. Far as I know our 2007 has a stock arm and blade and it looks just like the one in the link. RockAuto lists rear blades as 16" too. I just ran the wiper (on one of our perpetually dusty windows) and the closest the distal part of the sweep came to the (top) edge of the glass was about 1.3". The proximal part is far from the hub - no clearance problem there. So it looks like an 18" blade could be mounted on it for a little more useful coverage. Assuming it didn't run into some part of the arm itself, and you didn't mind it sticking out awkwardly beyond the arm. 19" is too long, it would wipe the roof. I don't know if the mounting hardware on the arm is compatible with non-OEM blades or if an adapter is needed.

The mount is kind of strange and the length of the wiper frames are limited when I've looked before anyway maybe things have changed I am not sure

Yes I know about the factory replacement what I'm trying to do is fit on the rear the hybrid blade assembly which looks like it has an armadillo skin over the rubber The factory attachment point for the rear wiper they don't make a wiper blade like that for that mount I guess is what we would say so I was looking for another car that had a more universal rear mount than what the Toyota has

Bolt on an adapter? There are a few discussed in this thread:

Windshield wiper blade adapter | Toyota Nation Forum

Also check out Amazon B09L7RJS2B. In the pictures they show a variety of adapters, one of which might work. (The wipers in that product are too large for the hatch window though.)

OK so this was a great suggestion and thanks again for it, and regarding the Rear Windshield Wiper (wanting more coverage with a longer blade)-

Once installed, this worked perfect and solved the problem, HOWEVER: Let me share my experience so that if you install one, you get it perfect the first time without hurting yourself or the car...

    1. With the old wiper arm and blade still attached, use masking tape to mark where the blade lays on the back window while it's in the off/almost vertical position.

    2. Take care in removing the old wiper arm, remove the plastic cover and then the holding nut, and spray some silicone or teflon spray, or WD 40 around the threaded post. Let it sit for a few minutes. CAREFULLY wiggle the arm straight upwards to remove it.

    3. Place the new arm with the blade attached exactly where your marking tape is (or even a half inch or so to the left, since once installed the thing does have an inch or so of play in either direction as it wipes.) and then carefully tighten the holding nut down, DON'T FORCE IT. Replace the new plastic cover and go have a beer (or whatever.)

    4. So here's why I'm explaining all this-so that maybe you don't have to go through what I did! Once I got the old arm and blade off (both connected pieces) I noticed that the old one seemed to have splines inside the hole that the threaded post comes through, and the new one did NOT. When I installed the new 2 piece assembly and tightened the nut, I turned the wiper on and saw that I had it in the wrong position, and then it didn't want to let me take it back off. In order to not damage the glass or the new arm, I used a sink faucet puller tool to remove it... Once I had it in the right place the job was a snap to complete!

    5. What I've learned is; maybe in fact this is intentionally designed this way, since cinching the hold-down nut down the first time actually CREATED new splines inside the mounting hole of the new piece. And that if not for the old, tired worn and faded arm and blade I would have just gone to the car parts store and taken the old blade in with me, and asked the Man to give me an OEM wiper blade in the same configuration but 16 inches long instead of however short the original on was (11 or 12 inches long). That would have been much easier, but with both parts being new it looks great... I'm looking forward to seeing how well it works the next time it rains. If the blade that came with it doesn't perform well or hold up over time, I'll just go and get a new one (I have always preferred Bosch Icon) as described above.

If this was useful to just one of you then it was worth my time to write this post. Happy Motoring!
