    Need some specific advice-

After spending what seems like a lot of time and work fixing a Gen2 Water Pump(INV), O2 sensors etc- now the motor has spun a rod- It has 145000 miles

I think when I changed the valve cover gasket which was leaking bad- I might have somehow put some debris into the motor that eventually caused a clogged oil line and resulted in the issue.-

So- with this many miles - is it worth swapping a new/rebuilt 1.5L in? Looks like a lot of work from a labor perspective but overall do these hold value enough to continue to invest time and money in? or is it time to say bye -bye?

that's low miles for a gen 2, but keep in mind you might need a battery soon, and possibly a brake actuator

Gen2 Engine swaps are pretty easy compared to most engines. I'd encourage you to go for it so you can keep driving the best car made 2004-2009.

It is a common mistake to think of cars as an investment. They are not. They are also not an asset but a liability. A car depreciates 20% of its value in the first year and up to 50% by year three. Cars should only bought and paid for in full – financing a car is a pathway to poverty so only buy what you can afford.

So now that's out of the way, how much will it cost to exchange your current car for a similar or better car, and do you have the funds to finance that outright? Compare that with how much it will cost to get your car roadworthy – all else being equal.
