that’s good to know, hopefully they do light resurfacing and not a lot of shaving. Will let you all know when it’s put back together lol.

as for the brake booster, I’ll tackle that when the time comes, like this headgasket lol.

I had the cold start knocking about 80k miles ago, only this time, it caused misfire and coolant leak. So when you do get the first symptom, you’ll likely need a new HG in the future. (y)

I did have a partner to film with but we live too far apart and so it didn’t work out

So out of all the gasket and o-ring left, I’m stumped on where this o-ring goes.

I think it may be the ECT sensor o-ring, but my old head has a welded gasket on the side, the new head doesn’t have a welded gasket sticking out, it’s flushed. So I assume this o-ring is for the ECT sensor, what do you guys think???

EDIT: ok after checking, it might be it :ROFLMAO:

Some documentation from Toyota would be nice. Always puzzles me: they put together this kit, and all the pieces have a part number and purpose, so why the heck not tag each item with those two bits of info, plus a summary sheet.

What was the issue when I got my kit. Figuring out which gasket goes where apart from obvious ones like valve cover, intake, timing chain tensioner. There were a lot where I had to hunt and figure out what went where.

don’t worry, I got you! I’m filming and will be showing you where all the gaskets and o-rings are located at.

It looks intimidating at first, but it isn’t so bad. I do agree they should’ve listed the names of each gaskets and o-rings.

Disregard that o-ring for the ect sensor, I believe that o-ring was for the oil dip stick tube. The ect sensor has a metal flat gasket on it. Gotta go to Toyota and get one tomorrow.

edit: my old copper gasket was stuck onto the head. lol make sure you guys remove it if it is.

it was :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I was working on the car from 9am-2pm for 9 days or so. Filming and cleaning everything took most of the time, if I was just going to replace the 2 o-rings on top of the camshaft housing and the 2 o-rings on the left side of the head and 1 on the block, everything would’ve been faster.

I replaced all the o-rings, gaskets and oil seals. Good thing I didn’t have to work on the head valve train, or else that’ll add more hours to this job :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Overall, I wouldn’t mind doing it again, with out filming it, glad I got that out of the way.

I mean, if you had to do it again and got stuck some where, I'm sure there would be a Nuts about Bolts video that could help you out. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
