    Hi everyone!
I recently purchased a 2017 Prius v with 114k miles on it. I'm planning on servicing the EGR and EGR cooler to try and keep ahead of problems. To save time, I'm thinking of buying a used replacement intake manifold that I can have all cleaned up and ready to go. I've already bought a new Toyota EGR valve and I'm planning on looking for a used EGR cooler that I'll clean up as well. Is there any advice on purchasing a used intake manifold ("EU" 7th and 8th VIN character)? Is a used intake manifold for a 2012 Prius v as good as one used on a 2017? Or, were there improvements made along the way to the intake manifold so I would actually be better off looking for one closer to my 2017? I've also seen new intake manifolds for $85.00, but I think they're after market, which I know nothing about.
    Thanks a lot, Thomas

Yes you want a 2017 manifold if at all possible. And verify your ecu code id. There were several revisions since the first v in 2012.

Your 2017 probably has the latest manifold and ecu software.

    Hi RJParker,
Thank you very much for this information. Tomorrow I'll have to see if I can find the number you're talking about. Toyota didn't make near as many 2017 Prius v's as the earlier models. Maybe I'll just keep what I have and spend some time cleaning and reusing my original manifold. I do know my 2017 Prius v was sold in California and registered in October, 2016, so I've got an early one. The good news is that my car came with the Advanced Technology Package.

The intake manifold is a walk in the park to clean. If I was going to buy anything it’d be a spare EGR cooler. Stilll, everything’s cleanable. And with replacement parts you “may” acquire some lemons.

To save time there are things you can do in advance, and various strategies, what to tackle first. Tips in top two links in my signature, second one in particular for strategies. (On a phone turn it landscape to see signatures)

Nice buy. Good luck with it.
Following thread as I would also like a spare EGR cooler and possibly in take so I can let them soak at my leisure.
