sometimes i can think of a good use for one, but installation would be above my pay grade.
50 years ago, i would have jumped right into it.

I'm just curious, but why? On the gen5, the lights for the seat heaters are very visible as they're part of the climate control panel. Plus you'd feel it.

Here's a picture of a HEV Limited with the driver seat heater on low and the passenger on medium.

I've got a DL on order, ie, no heated seats or steering wheel.
I really got used to them on my current MINI; it'll be an adjustment.

I installed seat heat in my 2000 VW TDI Beetle. It had carbon impregnated cloth-no wires to kneel on and subsequently burn a hole in your posterior. Removing the upholstery and reinstalling was not fun, as I recall-my introduction to 'hog ring' pliers. Luckily nothing bad ever happened, electrically, or for that matter, airbag, speaking.

The MINI was my first car with a heated steering wheel, and that is very very nice.

I don't think I'll be attempting anything with the Prius.

For less than a hundred bucks, you can buy a seat cushion with a built-in heater.
Mine has a massager, but I never use the heater.

love the heated steering wheel on my bolt, and cooled seating! will be difficult to give those up in the future.

For what it's worth, the gen5 doesn't use hog rings. It uses a plastic track in the cushions and plastic arrow-shaped long tabs in the seat covers. Takes a little bit of practice with a thin flat-bladed screwdriver, but once you get used to it you can fly. I did a complete seat cover swap(all seats), and by the end I could remove or replace a cover in about 5 min or less.

(Since my LTD is red, I wanted the red-trimmed seats from a Prime. I bought the seats from a wrecked XSE, but I had to swap covers because my LTD has ventilated seats and the XSE seats didn't.)

    That's awesome.

I do have to admit that the VW TDI was the one car that I was really into 'modding'. And it was all fed by a web forum, lol.

I put in bigger injectors, and revised programming, and don't you know, the clutch starting slipping, so in goes a VR6 clutch, lol. Then there were the gauges....

I'm more into keeping a car stock nowadays, mostly. Although I've been studying the spare tire scene, DCM, and the noisemaker. :)

I've done a ton of mods to my Prius, but everything has remained stock/OEM except the hood struts I picked up from Amazon. Everything else has been taking things from other Priuses and putting them on mine. Or OEM accessories meant for the Prius. The biggest projects have been the interior conversion(seat covers, steering wheel, gear shift knob, dash trim), power folding mirrors with turn signals, and the complete spare tire conversion. I've also added the Toyota/Lexus premium horns, GR door stiffeners, GR performance dampers, door sill protectors, dash cam, rear footwell lights, and JDM rear headrests. My (hopefully)final project is adding front cross traffic sensors, but I'm having problems getting them programmed.
