Anyone with a 23-25 Prius who bought their own spare tire what size did you buy and did you have any storage issues?
Temp spare info is in the Owner's Manual. You can also download a pdf here. Page 525: @Hammersmith has a definitive thread on this as well.
I hit a curb and put my rear passenger tire out of alignment. It wore off the edge until it blew. I replaced it with a while new set. At 50,000 kms they were due anyway.
A tad off topic, but a couple years ago I hit a granite curb in the dark while turning into a car wash. Destroyed TWO tires, no rim damage. Oh, they were run flats, lol. I rode in the car on top of the AAA flatbed to the tire place, because covid response. That was interesting. Runflats suck. Weak, noisy, expensive.
I don't have runflats, but I ran over 12 miles on a flat tire to get to the tire shop. The tire was ruined anyway and had to be replaced. I kept it under 30 mph, and kept checking it for overheating. No problems, and I got there OK.
I subsequently learned that the tire had blown because it was seriously out of alignment after hitting a curb. It wore off the tread of the tire until it blew out.
I've never had them, so I don't know the downside. They look like a good idea, regardless. My Gen 3 had them originally, but the dealer took them off.
