Probably not, I know very little about cars, and I just found a nice work around, install a cheap OBD 2 sensor in the OBD port under the dash, that with Dr. Prius app, which gives you temperature readings much better than waiting for the temp light to turn red, which is often too late on my prius. Still, a low coolant sensor wouldn't be a bad idea, methinks.

How bout installing a cheap OBD 2 sensor in the OBD port under the dash, that with the Dr. Prius app should give better temperature warnings than waiting for the Prius temperature light alert to trigger red, which is too late, eh?

The Dr Prius app does not show the engine coolant temperature. It shows three temperatures for the hybrid battery.

The best way to monitor the engine coolant temperature is shown in posts #2 and #38. I have the P10 display connected to the OBD2 port , as shown in post #38. I installed it three years ago based on rjparker's recommendation. I could not be happier.
