I am in the proces of resurrecting an 2010 Prius. I am at the point that i don't have any more fault codes but the car still does not go to ready. I suspect that maybe one or more modules don't work. I had the same problem with the TCM. Does the inverter show up as part of the hybrid module or should it just show itself as a seperate module? I have added a picture of all the modules present. Also a picture of my dash. Hope someone can help me figure out why it won't start

Have you tried removing and reinstalling the safety switch for the hybrid battery?
It's very easy for it not to be correctly set....

Yes, i even tried other safety switches. Also measured the resistance from the switch. What i also noticed is that wen i turn the ignition off i have to wait a good 10 seconds before i can turn it on again. Don't know if it's suppose to do that

With Techstream i found this fault code. Also found that the start permission is not being received. Also found that the theft deterrent module is not communicating.
Any thoughts on where to find the solution?

Just an update on this post. The car still does not start. Ready doesn't turn on. What i did was read all the data from the prius, prius-c and Lexus rx450h. Non have a specific theft deterrent system. The data that was different with the other 2 cars was that the s code, l code show NG and the master key "unset". On the other cars S and L code showed OK. Master key showed 'Match". So far i checked all the wiring and replaced the TCM and smart key module. I'm waiting for a complete set with ECU, TCM, PCM, SKM, Key, Push button and the module next to the PCM. Will give an update when i receive the items

One more question. According to the repair manual a TCM and smart key module can be replaced without further action which seems strange to me because they are part of the immobilizer system. Is the handshake procedure meant to like put them all on the same frequency again? Can i do this with my Launch X431 or Techstream?

Took a while but the car starts now. I purchased a second hand set containing ; Ecu, TCM, Power management module, Network module, smart key module and key. It fired up right away. Thanks for the help. I didn't try to find out which module was at fault. I think it might have been the power management. I was afraid to start trying and messing things up.

More than likely; it was one of those used modules you swapped-in. The issue I have with computer controlled modules; they can be programmed to only accept certain modules. A new or OEM rebuilt module will have a blank security key on the EEPROM. When the system sees this, it'll write a valid security key into that blank spot. If you put in a used unit, that would be an unrecognized security key and it may not function and the diagnostic software may not tell you - depending on your level of access rights within that diagnostic software.
OEM's excuse for this is to prevent counterfeits and ensure a safe fully vetted product. This is simply control and prevents people like us from affordably repairing the product.
It has been like this for the past 15 years, in the medical equipment space. Most OEM will limit what your able to do on their equipment and would require a $2K-$5K minimum fee, just for them to show up. We require their field service key to unlock the unit, so we can fix it. That's after the OEM has already hit us for $25K tuition before allowing us to get hands-on their diagnostic software. Don't even get me started on the annual diagnostic software license....... We've been negotiating diagnostic software and tuition with initial purchase agreement of new equipment now, to manage equipment cradle to grave cost.

i agree 100%. There was no fault code in non of the modules. The only thing i could find was that an S and L code were missing. I also tried to connect the pins in the obd connector for 30 minutes. That was after i had already purchased a second hand TCM and smart key module. Well, i have a lot of spare parts now. The thing i dislike is that the manufacturers make it seem that they are helping the costumer to prevent theft while in the end they are the biggest winner when there is theft and when the things fail.
