Wasn't it upthread where small foam blocks were purchased from a craft store?

I tried to read all 500+ posts in this thread but did not see that!

I've handled the Walmart yoga block and it does look very suitable. It's very firm and very light but has to be cut to the right dimensions.

I misread your post. You have an XLE. I was thinking LE.
@Humble Bear cut a hole in his LE's foam to fit the tire, but then had to add foam blocks to raise the deck (LE).
He got small craft blocks from Walmart.

The donut fits perfectly behind the passenger seat, with the seat being all the way back.
I put the tire in a black plastic bag for camouflage purposes. :)
There are existing cutouts in the foam for the oem factory jack and wrench, and they fit perfect.
The lower LE deck helps with space. Not sure how a bike will fit in there yet.
    Thanks again to @Hammersmith .

I just finished doing the exact same thing. 16x4T rim from Lewis Toyota, 145/90R16 Yokohama tire from WallyWorld, jack kit 09105-47020 also from Lewis. I did spring for a spare tire carrier bag w/handles from EZ Spare [ EZ Spare Medium Carrying Bag for Spare Tire and Wheel – EZ Spare Wheel , still on sale, must not sell many bags ] so daughter (end-user of Prius) can manage it better.

For the LE, the Hammersmith or Humble Bear solutions are more elegant, but the loss of cargo space involved (OK only around 3.5 ft3 difference between LE and XLE, lose that in the LE with the required raised deck height) was an issue for her, so opted for the behind-passenger-seat solution too. Daughter initially cringed at that but asked her “how many times in last 6 yrs have you traveled in your Honda fit with 3 passengers?”, answer was zero, so she became more accepting.

Being new to Toyotas and hybrids, initial concern I had was blocking the hybrid battery air intake vent with the spare. But it appears from the owner’s manual the intake vent location is driver’s side rear seat bottom left. The passenger side rear seat bottom right also has a plastic looking “vent” – is this also part of the hybrid battery air intake? I don’t know. But even with the spare in place, the “vent” isn’t covered.

I can’t thank @Hammersmith, @Humble Bear, all other posters enough, this thread was a long one but well worth reading, helped me enormously. Now onto the other add-ons (EcoHitch, cat converter shield, 12v battery maintainer eyelet connector pigtail mount, etc).

I just looked at that vent. Cabin ventilation? Anyway the circumference of the tire makes blockage a non-issue.

I'm going to see how my bicycle fits in today. I'm pretty sure I can get it in with the front wheel off. Question is will spare interfere, and can I take a passenger (and two bikes? LOL). Would prefer to stay away from hitch, but it's definitely easier not having to take off a wheel and with a tilt-down feature, easier for a woman to lift onto the bars and into position, never mind multiple bikes.

The rear is so raked you need any additional vertical room you can get.

I'd be interested in what you come up with for the battery maintainer.

Also, I have the thumbwheel screw for the spare tire, if anyone wants it. Just pay postage.

On a side note, I've found the avas noise maker not as annoying as I'd thought-at least going forward. I walked alongside it as the salesman drove it out of the showroom, and not so bad. I guess it gets loader as you go faster. Reverse is another story, but so far, I haven't reached the threshold of deleting it.

Just now I put a black Carhartt jacket I had over the plastic bag/tire. A little more 'stealthy', practical for winter here, and maybe the bike won't snag on it like it could on the bag. Still haven't test fit the bike.

The Harbor Freight tire plug kit fits perfectly in an LE foam cutout.
I'm going to have to check out the pump and the jack in action (I say that, but will I? :) )

For what it's worth, in lieu of a new deck board with the foam cube supports over the spare tire, I used some prepackaged expanding foam. These are the ones sold to pack and protect stuff for mailing. I think it works very well, maybe better that the OEM foam cubes since the expanding foam provides more surface area of support. 20251129_112410.jpg

It was a super cheap solution. Two packets of this expanding foam was about 8usd on Amazon. I now feel confident enough to carry a full cooler back there.

I just purchased a 26' LE FWD and this has been a very useful thread. I frequently use a spare on all my vehicles for tire rotation, etc. I figured I would just put one together similar to b0nd0710 | PriusChat.

OEM spare tire install | Page 7 | PriusChat

    I'll be ordering the following:

    Toyota Genuine #64778-47090
    Protector, Spare Wheel

    Toyota Genuine #51931-10040
    Carrier, Spare Wheel, Right Hand

    Toyota Genuine #64997-47100
    Box, Deck Floor, Left Hand

    Toyota Genuine #64995-47080
    Box, Deck Floor, Right Hand

    Toyota Genuine #64716-47170-C0
    Cover, Deck Trim, Rear

There are a couple of correct sized used tire/wheel spares out on ebay that I'll probably just order.
As for the jack/etc, I'll order one of the off-brand jack sets from Amazon.

Any other suggestions anyone can think of that has done this for an LE? Thanks!

I don't want a spare tire. I couldn't change it anyway, due to my physical disabilities.
I had one flat tire last year, that was my own fault; I hit a curb and wore the tread off a rear tire, due to the misalignment..

I waited four hours for roadside assistance, but I finally gave up and drove on the flat, 10 miles to a tire shop.
It was time for a new set of tires anyhow.

Toyota dealers in the SE are having a 25% off sale on line right now, so your timing is good. There was a similar sale going on when I bought parts for my spare and I took a chance on World Toyota in Atlanta. I had a hassle free transaction but YMMV of course. I personally bought a new OEM spare wheel and new OEM jack, as the prices seemed quiet reasonable when discounted.

Everything is ordered at 25% off, used spare/wheel off ebay ordered. I also ordered the bumper applique (or whatever fancy word that is), and the supersonic red door edge protectors. I'll post pics once everything delivered and in.

How long did it take for World Toyota to ship your parts? I've been waiting over a week, no update, no anything. I've emailed, left messages for the parts department, no response at all. Makes me wonder if anything is even in stock there.

I think about 2 weeks as they had to order some or all of the items from Toyota's warehouse(s). Seems like most parts I've ordered from a dealer, they have to get them from a distribution warehouse, even something as simple as a molding clip. I don't know why Toyota doesn't just fulfill online orders directly from their warehouses instead of sending items to their dealers for delivery to the customer. Last year when I ordered from World, I dealt with a Zach. Try calling main reception and ask for the person in Parts who works on online sales.

You're not doing business with Toyota, just the dealership.

Yeah, but if a North American merchant with whom you are doing business can get its Chinese supplier to drop ship stuff to you even though you're not doing business with the supplier, the dealer should be able to get Toyota to drop ship stuff to you too.

Toyota needs to crack down on some dealers. Some of them are nearly criminal in the way they carry on.
At least that's been my experience.
