A thin coat of fluid film instead?

Another quart of grease would work wonders....
It's always easier to replace them the 2nd time.
I always put anti-seize paste on the metal parts that mate.

I've never had a hard time of remove old hubs.

No need to worry as this does not impact breaking. After three days it becomes a coat of dust add even more protection. i did this to my cars and it has protected backing plate for years.

Not much grease is use, it just looks like much. Anti-seize is a great idea. Grease is much more economic.
"I've never had a hard time of remove old hubs." cars in this area mostly require effort to remove their hubs.

I've seen worse. Removed worse, without a problem.
Grease doesn't work as well. It will harden and eventually get washed out.
You can use the brake anti-seize.

Some grades of grease (e.g., boat trailer hub grease) offer better wash-out resistance than others. That property should be listed in grease specifications.
