Paint discoloration

    Anyone know what this paint discoloration is? It does not come off with cleaning products and the surface is smooth so it has to be under the paint. Could it be rust forming under there? Any idea how to remove?

    I've only had this Prius since June of last year.

    If you're willing to DIY, I'd give it a pass with a clay bar. You'll need to wax the spot after. Which body panel is this on? The hood is aluminum so it won't rust.

    Well then at least you can be re-assured its not rust. Probably a bug that went splat and its gooey remains baked in the sun. This stuff can get baked into the clear coat and a pass with a clay bar should get it out. Recommend reading into how to properly use the clay bar.
