First Toyota GR Corolla brake swap on a Toyota Prius (ZVW30) Gen 3. thanks to 350PHI for the conversion kit and Hybridpit for install Parts 350PHI Caliper Bracket 350PHI Bolts 350PHI Rotor Ring GR Corolla Calipers and Pads BRZ Brembo Rotor Optional: Stoptech Braided Brake line Installation: Bolt on Application, same procedure as replacing OEM Calipers with the exception of removing Brake Dust Shield due to inner clearance Removal of the brake dust shield is required since the hub needs to come off. You can cut the shield if you want, but I removed mine completely. I also couldn’t bend it back far enough because the issue isn’t the lip of the shield — it’s the backing plate of the brake shield making contact with the rotor.
That’s an awesome swap! The GR Corolla calipers must be a huge upgrade for the Prius - bet the stopping power feels night and day compared to stock.
Yup it is, stopping definitely feels more premium, like your in control. Even on a daily drive it’s really enjoyable
I agree it looks cool. But with regen braking and the light weight of a Prius this is the equivalent of using a giant sword instead of a steak knife to eat your dinner. It may look pretty cool, but there was nothing wrong with the normal steak knife in the first place. And don't just believe me, I showed this post to the guy in Oklahoma who builds high performance Gen3 Prius engines and his first reaction was how stupid he thought it was because a Prius doesn't ever get pushed to the type of limits that would require this type of braking system.
Who’s this guy in Oklahoma? Im interested on his performance gen 3 engine. And yeah overkill for a Prius? Yes Do you feel the performance difference and more controls braking? Yes (I was surprised too on this one) this is more on the quality of ride upgrade/improvements
My first guess would be the regen-to-friction transitions in moderate braking might feel a bit abrupt—you're slowing down at a rate determined by regen, the ECU goes to trade out the regen for what it's programmed to think is the corresponding brake fluid pressure, and your coffee spills.
