Does anyone know if there is a way to ONLY subscribe to the 'Remote connect with digital key'? I don't want or need the other services that are bundled. On my Toyota app, only three choices are listed and the RCwDK always has extra services. Thanks for any help.
Unfortunately, there is not. I also have not been able to find anything like a "subscribe for a full year and get 15% off" sort of thing. Currently I'm doing month-to-month with no auto-renew and just resubscribing when I need it. In the summer when I'm driving somewhere where full directions are nice(including accurate speed limit signage on the gauge cluster), and in the winter if it's cold and I want reliable remote start.
That helps me a lot, I didn't realize you could have it just when you want it (no auto renew). Now I wonder if when I have it turned on, previous digital key users can still access the vehicle without re-issuing them a digital key. Thank you for your help
Remote Connect - use your phone to remotely control locks, windows, lights, climate Digital Key - phone functions as a keyfob; one phone is the master key(can use Remote Connect), up to 7(?) other guest keys can be active - guest keys don't have Remote Connect ability
thanks. My toyota app allows me only to turn the AC on and off, lock doors, start recharging when plugged in and turn on emergency lights (it's there but I never tried it). When i try to unlock the doors, it says it cant be done since the alarm is on, and that would result in it going off. So far I have a feeling we are not talking about the same thing...
After the 1-year "trial" period, Toyota wants $15/month to access the remote start feature - called "Remote Connect". It includes a number of features however the only 1 I really need the convenience of the remote start capability, as I live in Florida and turning on the A/C before entering the car is a nice luxury. There is a way to do this without the subscription! Simply tap the "lock" icon on your key fob 3 times. On the 3rd tap, hold the button down. In a few seconds, the car will flash its lights and the car will start! For FREE!!!
And I apologize, it did indeed work this morning. Now for a non Prius question, will this trick work with a 2022 Toyota Camry? I didn’t get a chance to try it out on the wife’s car this am
Are you watching the Camry's lights while you try? Do you see the confirmation flash when you press the button each time? I've found the gen5 to be very flakey when trying, and I assume a 2022 Camry is using basically the same equipment. Make sure that you're seeing: <press button> <see flash> <press button> <see flash> <press and hold button> <see one flash, then multiple flashes> The other possibility is that you or your wife(or the original owner if you bought it used) opted out of all subscriptions when the car was first purchased. For the keyfob remote start to work on current gen Toyota's/Lexus's, the Data Communication Module in the car needs to be enabled. When an owner opts out of all subscriptions, the DCM gets disabled, and that prevents the keyfob remote start from working. So you can have two identical Camrys or Priuses sitting side by side, and the remote start will work on one and not the other depending on the infotainment screen choices made when the car was purchased.
We are the only owners of the car, drove it off the showroom floor with 7 miles on it, took a short test drive and drove it off the lot with 21 miles on it. I am pretty sure the option to subscribe was either not available or not mentioned by the dealership.
There should have been something. Among other things, it would've asked you to link the car with a toyota.com account. The salesperson should have walked you through it. Somewhere along the line there would've been a screen with an "Accept/Don't Accept" or "Consent/Don't Consent" type of page. If you accept/consent/whatever, you're automatically given 10-year trial subscriptions to Safety Connect and Service Connect. If you don't accept/consent/whatever, you don't get those trial subscriptions and the DCM is permanently* deactivated. *technically it can be reactivated, but it's a lot of work and only a dealership can do it by contacting Toyota which then contacts AT&T
Here's a video from a Toyota dealer that walks a person through the initial process: edit: Unless the 2022 Camry was still using the old infotainment system - I'm trying to find a setup video for that, but it's been so long that I'm having a tough time. But it's possible that the old system still has the separate keyfob remote start that doesn't route the signal through the DCM; I don't know when Toyota made that change. I did find this document for initially setting up the old infotainment system: https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/omnav-s/OM18EntuneStart/pdf/Entune3Start.pdf
