    Oh, that makes sense now. Was on the phone while typing, must have become confused

    Actually there is a comma, not a decimal, in that figure. $38,000 Cdn is about 25000 Euros

    Only an independantly wealthy person, or a business, can afford one, let alone four of them

    got the usb version so its faster!

    already connected it and can communicate is really simple and easy
    but thats the standers things like ice rpm's and temp

    now i have to look into the prius specific info.

    I believe Elmscan 5 USB uses 9600 or 38400 bps.
    The PCM communicates 115200 bps with the CAN232.

    your correct

    i got it working with pcmscan
    but when i use a different program special for the elmscan i can set the speed to 500000 bps

    because the usb version of the elkmscan can get a max off 500kpbs

    only problem is that pcmscan gives me a range of pid's ( sensor readings )
    that only are the industrial standards for engine rpm and temp. etc etc.

    only its not showing the prius special HV battery voltage info .......

    :(

    already used windows hyper terminal and got a successful connection but then i got HEX codes that i can not translate to something useful

    when i go into terminal mode and send something to the canbus
    then i get the following

    send : 03CB ( battery )
    and get : 7F 03 12

    i translate this to decimals and get
    7f = 127
    03 = 11
    12 = 18

    send : 3B ( em current)
    and get : 7F 3B 12

    i translate this to decimals and get
    7f = 127
    3B = 59
    12 = 18

    Something isn't right, the passive mode is probably buffer overrun. I'm leaving tomorrow on a business trip, will look into this when I get back next week

    Sometimes reading threads I get confused. :frusty:

    What is the bottom line here? What and where is the best solution for the best price. I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel, but would like to improve what is already invented.

    What ever happened to the elm solution. Reason I ask is they are cheap on ebay. Any ever use the ones from ebay and the software they come with?

    Also, do any of these solutions let you register TPMS sensors? or is all this just strictly read-only?

    If I can figure out what to get, I'll write up a full tutorial on what to do for others.

    Hi imwoody36,
    Are you reading PM?
    I sent you the software by email, but it was rejected by some reason, maybe a spam. :confused:
    Please send me PM again with your email address.
    If you would like to get the software, please send me PM with your email address.
    We don't know the CAN-ID for the TPMS sensors.
    If you know that, please let us know.
