Well, my one-month old 2009 Pri experienced its first glitch. My cell phone battery was about dead so I whipped out the 12V charge adapter, plugged it into the accessory outlet at the bottom of the dash and plugged the other end in the phone.

45 minutes later I reached my destination, unplugged the adapter from the phone and then from the outlet... or so I thought. When I pulled on the adapter plug, the entire accessory outlet came out of the dash! Wondering if the wire pulled loose on the back, I powered the car back on and the plug was still hot.

I took it to the dealer and they put in a new outlet (p/n's 85530-33020, 85530-06010, 85535-47020). But what floored me was the mechanic's comment: Your adapter is extremely tight and will likely pull the new outlet out of the dash again. Gads! I told him that I've never had that problem using my adapter in my wife's car and, frankly, in the car I used for a trade when I purchased my Pri. He just shrugged his shoulders.

Now, I ask if anyone else has run into this?

i had that problem but i was installing led lights under the feet of the driver and front passenger but never with a cell phone charger. may i suggest possibly going to your cell phone provider and trying to get a replacement car charger free with some sort of story and see if you still have the problem?

The exact same thing happened to me! Here's my story:

    http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-main-forum/38801-i-broke.html

I now only use that plug for things that have ... don't know how to describe this... if the male plug has those 'button' springs, it's ok because it isn't as tight. But if the male plug has those band-wire springs, I don't use it in the front accessory plug. I seem to get by ok with the one that's under the armrest, but generally try to avoid using that type of plug if at all possible.j

    Good luck!
