When I had the Integritity's I ended up settling on 50fr 48rear. Most of last summer I was pushing 60 MPG tanks without much effort.

W/O naming names, I was going to say, there are folks running 50 w/ no adverse wear (I'm not saying what I run  but I'm over manufacture's recommendations) and benefiting even more on mpg's. There's a bunch of threads posted under the mileage section (rather than the general section here). In that section you'll find many argue no ill effects (and their rational) by running fronts & rears @ the same pressure.

I ran mine at 42 / 40 since the day I got the car, but two weeks ago I dropped the pressure to 35 / 33 because I got sick of the rough ride. The potholes and poorly patched potholes wore me down. My driving patterns have changed too - I only go into the office at most three times per week so 90% of my trips are under five miles so now I'm settling for 45 mpg instead of 50 mpg tanks.

I'm thinking about going up to 44/42 from 42/40. In spring weather, I'm getting close to mid-50's (yesterday was rainy and in the 40's so I dropped to 53.5mpg and didn't feel like re-blocking the grill boohoo). Would this gain me even 1mpg or should I not bother?

Also, I haven't put air in my tires since January. I check the pressure every other week and even with the temperature going anywhere from 10 degrees (f) to 78 it's still at 42/40. Am I defying the laws of physics or is someone sneaking in at night and putting air in my tires?

I've had my tires at 60psi (bf goodrich - sidewall max 44 psi) for over a year and never had a problem. I like the handling and the gas mileage - around 49 mpg.

Depends on the tires. I have Goodrich on my other vehicles and run them at 42 PSI without any problem/could go higher.
The Prius is a different beast//195/55/16 stiff tires with stiff suspension and the ride may be a bridge too far at 47PSI. I will try a little higher this week and take it slow. I am over 54MPG with my work round trip. I may even try the same pressure all around for a test.

I ran my 2003 and 2003 civic hybrids at 48PSI with no problems at all.

Sorry, I was too lazy to get the goodrich tire size - 185/65/r14 from costco for $50 each.
