    Hey all,

Anyone know if the Scan Gauge II will work on the 2010 Prius?

I have one now on my '08, but I am picking up a '10 tomorrow.

If no one knows, I guess I'll find out soon enuf...

    Thanks

The xgauges for the Gen II do not work for the Gen III. So SOC BTA and others are useless. Also, the fuel flow part of the SG does not work properly For instance, when the ICE is off (showing 0 RPM) there is still fuel flow indicated and MPG are in the 200 range.

So the SG still works good for things like RPM, IGN TPS Wth, but anything pertaiing to fuel flow is off some.

If you go to their website and look at the compatability list (which they haven't updated for 2010), the ScanGauge is compatible with all new vehicles. I see no reason why it wouldn't work in the 2010 Prius.

Just as for the Gen2 Prius, the "Prius-specific" items like SOC, battery amps, high voltage, etc are user programmable. Someone must first figure out and publish the codes necessary to program these gages into the device. I suspect that this is being worked on by someone here at PriusChat as we speak. It would sure would have been convenient if the codes were the same, but I guess we have no such luck.

I've been using mine in the 2010 for a few weeks now.

Seeing 0 RPM at 45 MPH has become a frequent favorite.

So obviously, it works just fine.

What's the lowest RPM you've seen when not at 0? When loping along at 40mph on ICE power, it sounds pretty low (800-1000 RPM or less).

Interesting. My personal low, so to speak, is 996 rpm--seen it often. I wonder if it is a quirk in the ScanGauge or in the car?

I see 992, again often, and closed loop and indicating fuel consumption, and that's a tiny down hill at 45 MPH. See 1000 - 1100 steady state at 45 MPH, flat land.

996 is when you're in warp-stealth, by and large. No fuel being
injected. I think it comes up a little over 1000 as the engine
    lights again.

So what gauges do you think are the most accurate?

I just got back from an overnight trip and did some trip gauge comparisons to real life data on gase milage.

The SG said I got 38.x mpg, the Prius said I got 42.1 and my calculation of miles and gallons from filling up yesterday before leaving and filling up upon return yielded 41.3 mpg.

Now I dont want to give anyone a heart attack, I know how green everyone here is. But I was driving between 75 and 85 mph most of the time. So in my opinion over 40 mpg going that fast is outstanding.

I think the ScanGaugeII is more accurate. The onboard displays for MPG and MPH use the same data that the ScanGauge uses but have built in errors. The differences are deliberately "built in" by Toyota. In the case of MPH about 3% to 4% to make sure the speedometer never reads slow, this is required by a U.N. regulation that car manufacturers follow because they sell cars all over the world: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedometer"]Speedometer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

In the case of MPG the error is about 5% and was required by Toyota marketing to try to convince customers that we are actually getting better mileage than we are. There are several threads dealing with this subject: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...y/66149-2010-toyota-prius-fcd-inaccuracy.html

I have checked my speed with a portable GPS and in the 60 to 70 MPH range the ScanGague is right on, the speedometer reads about 2 MPH fast. I checked my mileage (calculated vs displayed) very carefully on a 3500 mile trip and found the same 4% to 5% error others are finding. My Gen2 Prius had the same speedometer error as the Gen3 but it did not have the fuel consumption error.

Unless I'm mistaken the scangauge is as accurate as you calibrate it to be as far as fuel consumption.

Word I received from ScanGauge was that I was the first person to let them know the XGauges didn't work in the 2010 and so they are going to be programming some very soon. I should know as soon as they are ready. Going to do a BIG group-buy on the ScanGauge II soon if anyone's interested.

I bet you werent the first. ;)

I contacted them after I got my scanguage and they told me that it would take a while for them to calculate the programming for the 2010. Probably not until early 2011.

I knew the moment I set eyes on the network map for the 2010 that
they weren't going to make much progress on that anytime soon.
Again, where are they [Ron and the rest of the scangauge crew]
    getting their inf0z from??

I see the PC shop has the guage on sale today. My question is, if they do come out with an update for the 2010 Prius, will the guage I purchase today be upgradeable? Will I have to send it in or can it be upgraded from a PC or something like that?

    Thanks,
    Peter

Noticed the Scangauge for $138 ad this a.m. Is this price still good and if so does it have firmware 3.17?

    Thanks

any difference between the SCII offered on AMazon and the one in PCShop. PCShop says its the SCII+xgauge+trip odometer. For now, just want to check coolant temps with blocked lower grill.

I ordered one for my 2010 when I saw the discounted price and it is 3.17. I have installed and it works but I haven't tried to program any XGauges yet.
