2010 Pruis TAXI another dead ac compressor. Here's the story. I know were the driver took the taxi and apparently I was not available so one else filled the ac, DID NOT ADD DYE! that the #1:first indicator to turn and run. #2: There was a vary large leak, vary easy to find but not by using your eyes. So it leaked out & the taxi owner had someone else do it, leaked again, tried to fill it again this time no go. killed the ac compressor & on top of that this is my all time high % of air mixed with refrigerant 23%. After 18 years of testing refrigerant I never seen this much. That the words ( garage, shop, repair or tech ) can be used this this kind of work gives us all a bad name in this industry. They should be removed like cock roaches from a kitchen. It was a body shop that learned the hard way years ago not to play with Prius A/C who called me to fix this one. Filling a leaking hybrid ac is like playing dice, you never know when you roll CRAP!!! but at the customers expense. LET ME SAY THIS ONE MORE TIME, A ELECTRIC COMPRESSOR NEED A FULL REFRIGERANT CHARGE TO RETURN OIL AND PROVIDE COOLING FOR THE ELECTRIC MOTOR, OIL AND BEARINGS !!!...
