It fit. Barely.

We waited too long this year to get a tree. Went to home depot and there were all these scrawny shrubs left. And this really nice eight-foot one with the lights and everything in a stand. Asked if that was for sale, the answer was 'Yes' but the stand was frozen on. So for $20 we took it, then tried to fit it in. No way was it going on the solar sunroof, with the stand clanking in the wind. Had to go inside. We took out the flat panel in the bottom of the hatch, and that allowed the base to fit with the tip of the tree up over the front passenger seat. Lots of vacuuming of needles, and wiping up the sap off the leather seats, and you'd never know it made the transfer. The base is still defrosting in the living room.
