Refrigerant dose not go bad, wear out or get used up. It can only leak out or be over filled, a system can not be filled up all the way ( under charged), contaminated with air and moisture or mixed with gas by incompetent techs, cheap shops, ripoff shop. If refrigerant starts out clean and dry, after 100 years it will still be good... Keep the refrigerant clean, clean and cleaner, dry dry and dryer , don't over fill and don't under fill don't mix different refrigerant oils or different viscosity oils and the a/c system will last many many years.
