Already working on that project!! In my experience however, the support across the top of the struts will basically enhance handling while driving at the extreme limits. In everyday driving, one would rarely notice its value due the placement of the support.

    Thanks!!

I wanted to keep everyone updated on the progress of this new part and am happy to report that they have all been cnc machined and are currently being hard annodized. The machining is first rate and looks superb!!

The plates should be ready to ship within the next 7-10 days. I will be contacting everyone on my list as soon as I have them in stock and are ready to ship out.

    Thanks!!

I've sent you mail. If it will fit my 2004 Prius, I'm interested!

    Brian(Blkc5),

What are the plates(handling) you are referring to? Is this something the dealer has to install?

    Please advise....

    Thanks.

i think we need to clarify some questions that keep popping up here.

    1) this mod will work on any 04 Prius and newer.

    2) installing is simply removing a similiar stock plate attached by 4 bolts and re-installing the mod plate. doable by virtually anyone i would think.

i would be very interested in hearing about anyone's thoughts after installing this plate. i realize this only enhances the driving experience on the performance end. however, the extra stability would come into play if ever one would need to perform evasive manuvers to avoid an accident. at $150, its a pretty cheap insurance policy in my book

Hello everyone.... Let me try to clarify a few points about this new part.

This is designed for the 2004 and 2005 Prius. The part is very easy to install and will require a simple socket wrench. It will probably fit the 2006 model as well but it is unknown at this time.

One does not need to drive the car aggressively to be able to discern the difference in the vehicles stiffness/handling with this part in place. What this part does is to significantly stiffen the body's torsional rigidity resulting in less flex in the body and better handling.

This part does NOT interfere with the vehicles engineered crumple zones due to the placement of the plate.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

    Thanks!!

This is the type of mod I'm looking for. Unfortunately, I live in Michigan and must consider corrosion resistant materials. I'm assuming that the nut (whether it is a weld nut or cage nut) welded to the body is steel. This plate is aluminum. I know that if the bolt attaching the two is not zinc treated, there can be long-term corrosion issues in regions that use salt and/or other chemicals to melt snow/ice in the winter.

Brian, you can count me in if there are organic zinc treated bolts to attach the plate. Otherwise I must live with a flexible Prius.

Hello Whitey.. Our plates were designed with you guys in mind.. The plate starts out from billet 6061-T6 and is CNC machined and then hard anodized with a black finish. The bolts that I chose to use are stainless steel cap bolts that are recessed and when tightened are flush with the plate so there is nothing protruding for zero wind resistance.

The 6061-T6 material and hard anodizing have superior strength and corrosion resitance which means it will probably outlast the car itself!!

    Thanks!!

I spoke to the anodizing shop today and the plates should be ready to ship to me by tomorrow!! I am hoping to have them in stock and ready to ship out to everyone on my list by next week.

As anyone in manufacturing knows, there unfortuanely are delays that occur, espeically in high precision CNC machine shops. The fact that this was a low volume run put my job on hold several times but this is unforunately the nature of the business.

I have not taken payment by anyone at this point as I wanted the plates to be in stock and ready to ship out before I bill anyone. There are few things worse than to pay for something and not even have it ready to ship!!

    Thanks!!

Hello everyone.. I wanted to show what our plates look like prior to the hard anodizing. These are completely CNC machined and really came out superb!! Note the internal ribbing and radiused curves.... The hard anodizing will add a black color so the final product will be black.

I still have a few plates that will be available from this first run so if you want one, please email me your information.

I should have them ready to ship out as soon as I receive them back from the annodizer!!

    Thanks!!

Yes, but what was the "mid-year" cut-in date for the stiffer chassis change?

Brian, I still want one as soon as they are available. I want to do whatever I can to help my Prius handle better.
    Thank you, Michael
