I took a look the EWD. It looks you'll be required following parts to enable the back door SKS.

    Parts:
    - Back Door Opener Switch Assembly
    - Outside Luggage Electrical Key Antenna

    Wiring:
    - from/to Certification ECU/above two parts

If someone has instructions on how to remove the panels (maybe for the installation of some accessory), I'm willing to go in and check things out. However, I don't feel like going in blind.

    Ken,
Do you have any info for the passenger side? I'm wondering if we only need the door handle with all the sks antenna/switch inside? Thanks,

    Winston.

Now we're getting somewhere! Thanks Ken! We still have to figure out how to get the parts, and how to install them, but at least we've got some leads!

    Ken,

It appears from the schematics that the signal "unlock" (LSS) is already there in the wiring - this by default. Not sure about this antenna - there was a previous post stating the antennas are already there... I think there is also a programming piece to the equation...

I believe the signal "unlock" (LSS) is unlock detection for open/close motor, not for SKS signal detection.
The signal names for the "Back Door Opener Switch Assembly" are TSW5 and TSW6, and names for "Outside Luggage Electrical Key Antenna" are CLG8 and CG8B.
Also, all wirings are marked with (*3), which means...
∗ 2 : Driver' s Door Only Smart Key System
    ∗ 3 : Except ∗2
It looks the passenger side door handle has both lock/unlock switch and antenna combined, but the wiring in not there too.

I believe the wiring is the most critical parts for this modification.

Hmm...is there a wiring harness part number or anything like that? Are these parts available anywhere?

Just wanted to revive this thread.

I would be really interested in a passenger and hatch SKS setup.

Me too. I took a bunch of heat from another post of how could I have missed this, but I'm sorry, without the trunk option, the whole SKS is really limited in value. I can't tell you the # of times in my Prius Gen II I got out and locked from the trunk or needed to place stuff in the trunk. Having to pull out my keys negates soooo much value. We really need a step by step on this one.

I'd suggest someone with time on their hands go to a dealer and ask for a quote to add it.

That will show the details involved....

If I remember correctly from the other SKS thread, the wiring is already there for the passenger door and all you'll need is the door handle with the sensor to add it. Not sure about the rear of the car though. I'm willing to take apart my car when I get it but it probably won't be for at least another week.

Just moved speakers around - and there is an unused molex connector in the door (I believe all 3 doors).

Anyone figure this out yet? I have a 2006 and want at least the back hatch to unlock in my wife's 2010.

    Thanks!

As we're discussing the auto-open feature, I have a question about the reverse -- locking the door using the touch-area on the door handle.

I've had my 2010 Trim III only since April -- so not much experience with it in cold weather.

Does the locking function work ok if you're wearing gloves? I tried it yesterday with a handkerchief in place of gloves, and it didn't open.

What say those of you who've had the 2010's during weather which warranted wearing gloves?

    Owners manual (page-51) says as follows;
"Gripping the door handle when wearing a glove may not unlock or lock the door".

I'm going to the dealer this weekend to have that annoying back-up beeping changed to 1 beep and while I'm there I'm going to get a quote for adding the SKS to the hatch and passenger door. Will update if/when I get something from them.

Keep us updated. I will do the mod if someone verifies it works.

I bet the dealer will tell you it is not an option. Someone needs to try it. Maybe I can get a front 2010 door handle from a junkyard to plug in and try.

Outside door handle prices are here.
    Part Detail
If I'm reading that correctly, the dumb key handle lists for $37.75 and the smart key handle $199.17:eek:

I predict Toyota isn't going to have run on smart key handles anytime soon.:D

Might luck out in a wrecking yard, except those guys can be pretty sharp about the value of what they have.

Really I only need one. I always put my jacket and netbook in the back seat.

I just wonder if it will work.
