Tire sizes, +16, +17, how to make up on spedometer?

    So some of the links on this site like here, Tire size calculator shows a change of 24% switching from a 15 tire to 17", that's huge. How can you offset that?

    you change to a lower aspect ratio to keep the overall diameter close to the original.

    for 17 inch you use a 205 45 tire

    for 16 inch you use a 205 50 tire

    For a 17x7 or 17x8 wheel I would suggest a 215/45/17 or a 205/50/17. These sizes will keep you close to you OEM tire diameter. More importantly, the size tires I suggested will help correct the 2mph error (too fast) the speedometer exhibits. The 205/45/17 is really close to OEM size and will definitely work but it is a bit smaller than oem size so the speedometer error gets worse. Your call. :)
