Do you know whether lights come on automatically in the v3?

In the owner's manual page 211-214. If you turn them ON via the left stalk, they will automatically turn off and on, so yes they will turn on automatically.

So just to clarify, if you turn them on with the stalk they will turn off and on with the ignition? This is different from light sensing automatic lights that many cars have. The Gen III Prius has the light sensing disabled but if you leave the lights switched on they will go off after 30 seconds or so of powering the car down. So does the v have light sensing lights?

The v Three definitely does not have light sensing headlights. If you leave the lights in the on position, they turn on whenever the car is on, even in daylight.

What about on the Prius v Five? I have no daylight running lights turning on.

Fives do have light sensor headlights and you also have the ability to control the sensitivity. No running lights though the manual seemed to indicate otherwise.

I called Toyota Directly and although the Owners Manual says you can activate them via the left stalk it is a typo the US models do not have DRL's with no way to activate them.

I think about when I don't want other drivers to see me, and leave them on all the time.

So it sounds like Toyota is using the same logic as they have with the Gen IIIs. I assume they are minimizing the use of the lights to decrease electrical/battery load. I'm not a fan of DRLs anyways, as long as the lights turn off on a timer after I power the car down I'm good.
