I successfully installed Boss BASS600 sub in my Prius. This is a great site with wonderful people. It would not have been possible to me to install by myself, if it is not for this site. So I thought I contribute by writing step-by-step process on what I did.

Bottom line is I love the additional bass in the car. I have not driven to work yet. But did some grocery shopping. I did not see any mileage drop. But I will keep an eye on it.

Please see attached PDF for what I did. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions. I am a novice installer. I can answer them if I know.

Nice write up. This will be very helpful for my install.

Question: How is the Boss BASS600 holding up after using it for a while? I've read some bad reviews on that unit dying quickly.

How does it sound? Is it deep, does it distort?

Thank you comatoes. So far so good. Its just been 10 days I have installed it and using it. It sounds good with no distortion at all. For sure I feel the bass. But it is not as deep as I expected to be (I am not an audiophile, but appreciates good quality sound). It sounds better if I face the sub to the trunk door. But I do not want to sacrifice my trunk space as I put my bike in and out of trunk. I did not see any mileage issues after adding the sub. I do have to get used to vibrating rear view mirror though.

If your Prius is 2007 model (as I see in your label), the molex might be different from 2008 model. Apparently the JBL amp model has changed from 2008 models. This link may help you.

Let us know how your install goes. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Here is how I did mine. After 3 years, it still thumps just fine, but then I do not overdrive the piss out of it.
Mans got to know his limitations!

It works very well, out of sight, secured to the HV battery cover! The plastic, not the metal!

Very clean install. Looks nice. Did you make that cover around the amp and sub or is it available in the market?

All the work was custom! Thankfully I have tools! I also have access to a nice metal shop , with a Bridgeport mill! I made the custom corner mounts on the mill, they came out sweet
It looks simple and plain, which is the look I wanted, sounds great, and is mounted securely however!

That's a nice setup. I like the box, I hope it doesn't rattle!

I want to simply add a powered subwoofer. My 2009 Prius has the JBL audio upgrade with the amp under the passenger seat. I'd like to splice into the wires coming from the front unit to this amp, because I assume that this amp powers the speakers in the rear doors and these will include a crossover filter that I don't want.
How can I locate the right wires?

Thanks for the nice write up, it was very helpful when installing my JBL Bass pro today.

Just a note for others about the small grey remote wire. You don't have to go into the center console for it. The white connector on the amp towards the truck side has a small gray wire that will also work. See the picture for more detail.
