armrest cover 1.jpg armrest back.jpg Ok, I'm at wits end. I want to cover the lid with a faux leather..... I've read all the posts. I've tried and tried. I just can't get the top part / lid to come off.
This is what I'm doing. Lifting front about an inch. Pushing back. Nothing. Pushing and wiggling to the point I thought it might break. Anything else? I pressing the release too, but I don't think that does anything, right? I don't see any screws at all. ARGH!

    thanks

I take it you're trying to open it? Use more momentum when sliding it backwards to get it to lift up. It's a learning curve, but if you slide it backward too slowly it tends not to work.

EDIT: I see you have the 2012 so the above doesn't apply. Others with the 2012 can advise you.

The 2012 armrest only lifts up, there is only one compartment on the top, (not two separate ones), are you trying to remove it from the vehicle?

I'm trying to take off the lid and cover it with a faux leather / leather to upgrade the look and make more comfortable. Thanks

Ah, so you want to physically remove the armrest. I don't have any info for you on this, but I would be interested to see your results. I wish the armrest came a little bit more forward for me to rest my elbow on (and was a little softer)

    1. There is no compartment in the lid
    2. To remove the piece that gets upholstered, pry it gently on the side. It is a separate piece from the bottom piece that is simply snapped in.

Are there any mods out there that allows us Prius owners to utilize all that wasted space in the 2012 armrests? There is so much room that is not used for anything. It seems pretty ridiculous...
