Has anyone changed the center arm rest of the 2012 to the older style of the 2010-11 models? In the 2012 when driving on the highway for example, my right elbow rests right in the second exposed cup holder. Really not comfortable. In the 2011 with the arm rest closed and slide forward covering the second cup holder it's perfect. My Dad has an 2011 and after a quick inspection, it looks like all you would have to replace is the top part that opens. Has anyone done this or know exactly what parts to order?

    Thanks.

I've been wondering this myself. I posted a similar question about a month ago. I've been watching the parts websites to get part numbers for the 2012 Prius Center console but none of them have 2012 parts listed. I suppose I could always call the dealership but I'm simply too lazy :)

Prius center consoles are a huge fail in my book... I mean maybe it's no big deal to people who are only 5 feet tall, but where do tall people put there right knee on long drives?

First thing I did w/my GenII is tear that waste of space plastic console out and replace it with a pillow... If one day I ever get a 2012 I'm going to re-wire switches and gear shift location and re-fabricate some plastic coverings for the area so the center console can be removed and replaced with a cushion the same height as the seats. This of course is way easier to do in the PriusV. Not so much in the other new models.

If you're interested in some of my design ideas get in touch and I'd be happy to help you out with the conversion process...

Wondering if anyone has successfully done the swap. My arm also sits right in the cup holder.

Funny a lot of 10-11 owners want to go 12+ including myself...just waiting for 12+ to hit the junkyards so I can get one for cheaper than the ridiculous price Toyota wants.

I'm currently in Del mar but returning to Irvine early tomorrow morning. If I decide to 100% go forward with this (just got the car Monday so a little reluctant) maybe we can meet up and swap.

I too am hesitant with getting rid of the stock one for resale purposes.

lol...I hated my 2010 armrest so I installed a 2012..it's completely an even swap. Good luck in the junkyards..it took me 2 months to find one. Ordered a new leather top and painted the cup holder to match my bisque.

Good to know its an even swap. I shall begin my hunt at junkyards...hopefully its a little easier for me since I'll be going backwards. I do like the idea of having my original in case I change my mind.

I believe it's a piece of the Clazzio seat covers set. They can be ordered separately by phone.

I wanted to ask you guys before I went to the junk yard. Will the 2012+ center console (the entire big center piece with the armrest that Toyota charges $$$ for) swap directly into a 2010-11? There's one at the local yard, and I want to make sure it'll fit.

Yes. I just bought the complete unit and installed last week.. The plastic is black not dark grey if u have the cloth grey interior.. I found the leather model.. Kinda 2tone.. Lower console is black with the uper console and cup holder is darm grey.. Not to bad looking.

Do you know the part number? Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
