did you wire to drl relay or straigt to drl? Can you explain more on what way you were able to do this mod?

    Thanks,

The 12v pos wire coming from the OEM DRLs will be tapped to the fuse that I showed. When the Prius goes into ready mode it will turn on the DRLs & will stay on with the headlights on until u power down.

I saw that fuse earlier when I was doing under the hood thing. SO I removed it, LOL, that cleared my ECU settings, clock, calendar, trip, and warning "stop and check your Hybrid system" started flashing. Had to go to dealer to reset that, LOL

I dont want to mess with ECU fuses, thats bad news waiting to happened
Can anyone point me to headlight relay, or parking light relay???
I did check all of the fuses under the hood, and this 3 10AMP are only fuses that are shut down when car is off.

On the side note, you will need positive and negative to the DRL relay, because both + and - gets desabled.

cant remember, maybe did, not sure.
Anyway, Im not sure I want to mess with that fuse.
There has to be ACC connector in that fuse box.
and on my 2012 model Low Beam fuses and relay are not there where they are marked.
Probably got moved under the dash

The fuse that I used is one that a stereo install guy found for me...but I think there may be a better one since this one is tied to some things that I would hate to mess up. Any of the other 10amp fuses you can see Sean that may be a better fit for our needs? The DRL's use very little juice so I'm not really worried about ever blowing it...but you can never be to careful. I think the "off and on 3 times trick" resets the car if you encounter that bothersome hybrid error.

There is only 1 other option tat I am aware of & it's a wire that runs to the windshield wipe motor. It hot when ready.

Would anyone be able to help me figure out the wiring for my DRL desire? Figure it might be good to piggy back off this thread or maybe I should make my own thread.

    I have a 2013 Prius Five.
I like running "parking lights" as DRLs for all the cars I've had since it also illuminates the tail lights.

My Prius has "Auto" on the stalk and automatically switches between DRLs and headlights on. Instead of just DRLS, I'd like this "Auto" to flip between Parking lights and Headlights. I could just as easily just flip the knob when needed, but I'd like to use the "auto" function.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Thread Revival alert! didn't want to create a new thread, so just piggyback on this thread..

Anyone have a pic of the location of the DRL red 12v hot wire near the bumper? or is it easy to find by just following the DRL wire bundle? sorry just want to get this straight before I remove my bumper to do this.

Ok I think I found the wire.. One more question, do I connect an extra splice from the passenger drl to the driver drl then splice that to the terminal?

    Scooter,

    I also have a 2013 Prius 2.
I am new to the site, and was looking at posts for connecting DRL to run with the headlights.
Would look like faux-fog lights with the headlights on.

I also want the DRL to operate as it does now.
What would an auto 12v diode look like? Would it come with wires ready to connect, or would
you need to do some soldering?

    Thanks

Use a 1N4001 or 1N4004 diode, available from any electronics supply store, or eBay.

Maybe even still at Radio Shack, if any still exist in your area.

    fuzzy,

I just got back from Radio Shack, and got 1N4001.
    They are still in business(barely).
Current flows from anode to cathode, I read.
So, just need to find the correct wires to connect to without
    shorting anything else!

I did install fogs with harness on my
2009 Camry Hyb., so I have some hands on experience crawling under
    a car and running wires.
It is easier running new wiring, instead if finding correct existing
wiring that is all bundled/wrapped up.

    Thanks for your reply.

    xlider,

I can visualize connecting the headlight relay to the DRL relay with a diode.
The location shown on the fuse cover for H-LP relay, there is nothing there.
Is there a headlight relay to connect to?

On another thread regarding 'DRL mods. 2013', you and others recommended using
a Low-profile fuse tap connecting the headlight fuse to the DRL positive.
Which one would recommend to use?

    thanks,
    stt

    scooter,

Did you ever locate the headlight relay?
I did buy a diode, and am ready to do the connection.
In another thread, on DRL mods. 2013, posters were using
A low profile fuse tap to the headlight fuse. The DRL relay is pulled out. The wire is
Fitted with a splayed male connector and plugged in.
After some thought, I was going to use the fuse tap on the headlight
fuse, connect the diode to the wire, and dremel a slot around the relay
Housing. II would connect to the DRL relay, which would stay in place.
what do you think? Looking for the simplest wiring, but want a nice looking
    wiring mod.

    Thanks,
