You meant the lack of side reflectors. We'd be in big trouble if the Valenti didn't have parking light LOL. It's pretty similar looking to the Revier all LED taillight.

What's law and what's actually enforced are two different things. As far as I'm concerned, none of the 80+ PC members here with aftermarket tails sans side reflectors have ever been pulled over. The only person who has gotten in trouble is ucsmfu but he lives in Canada. DOT/SAE is meaningless as some cars come equipped with dedicated side reflectors somewhere on the bumper so it can still be without one. If you want to be technically legal, you can add reflectors or side lights to the sides of the bumper like in the video below (which I think looks pretty cool). Or get the $700 ones in post #23 that do have side reflectors.

Car ID did the same thing to me on aftermarket wheels, accepted the order weeks pass and on a Saturday when both Car ID's customer Service and Wheel 'department' are closed so you can't reach them, they send me an E-mail telling me they are processing MY REQUEST to Cancel My Wheels, when I never did any such thing. My advice avoid Car ID. They don't seem to stock very much and call the manufacturer when you give them an order. Until then they don't know if what you want is available, they just tell everybody Yes, and wait to see. Then they don't have the cohones to tell you what they did, they try to blame you. Too many places to find what you need on line, just avoid them

Hi PC, been a long while.

I got a set of these (Option Racing Lights - Red) off eBay for a better price, but Returned them because backup and turn signal LED's were useless during daylight. Have yet to find a set that can duplicate light bulb brightness. Wife was behind be going home one day, and asked why I was not using my turn signals. They Looked great though, too bad they did not work. Also when I replaced the rear bumper, there is a space on each side now that I can't seem to git rid of. The whole project was a complete mess and failure. I followed instructions to the letter off the YouTube clip from Valente? , but in the end the original lights just would not pop out. I pulled them straight out like they suggest but they would not move. Stuff got broke to get them out - a first for me. Then to top it all off, there is now grease from the trunk seal everywhere. Arrggh....[IMG]

Stick with Valenti or Spec-D taillights. The LEDs are bright enough on these.

The Spec-D installation video is a bit misleading as it didn't say anything about collapsing the fasteners before pulling them out. Looks like you broke the rear bumper retainer. Just order the part and replace it to eliminate the sagging. If it's not the retainer that you broke, then make sure the overhanging tab at the top of the bumper is actually aligned properly and inserted into the groove.

    Hi 32Kcolors! It's been a while!

Thanks for the tips! One yellow tab got broke, and a white one popped off into oblivion. The bottom piece split but I fixed that with some krazy glue. I ordered the Valenti HC tail lights from TWP Trade (Their web site said sold out but they had them). As far as alignment goes, I think you are right, I need to reset the seam.

The Red Prius with Red tail lights looked great! (I had the Option-D lights on there for a day) I will post a pic of the HC'c when installed. The missing reflector on the side: I can cut a piece or red reflective tape and match that on the outside (I have some left over from another project). Someone asked why we wanted red lights since Toyota went with clear and chrome? I suspect that if they came with red already, we could be buying clear and chrome! - Just to be a bit different and personalize our car.

Someone mentioned intermittent hyperflashing, I got the one touch relay for turn signals (webelectricproducts). It replaced the stock turn signal relay, it is programmable for how many flashes when 'touched' (for lane changes) and is LED ready. The stock location for the relay is buried behind the dash - but that's another forum topic!

    Thanks again 32K!

Exactly. If it came with red tails, we'd all be going with the clear Valenti CC, which isn't available for obvious reason. The grass is greener on the other side!

    Hi 32K!
I got the Valenti HC's. They seemed to be in no big hurry to get them out to me. Box and Lights says Taiwan on it, so they are not Made In Japan. You are right! These LEDs are BRIGHT! I like them! No comparison to Spec-D's. I bought new fittings to replace the old broken parts. These went in a lot easier. I also bought a plastic pry tool, and that really helped. Oh, I re-seated the seams and did not remove the hatch seal this time.

    They look great! :)
    Thanks for the tip!

    Update:
Someone was asking about reflectors for Valenti. Here is my take:
Cut out some reflectors using original tail lights as guide. I made them a bit smaller.
    Before and after tape.

    From a different angle...
    I Hope this is helpful!
