KP technologies has a small module (KP Technologies). It is simply a variable timer that tilts the mirror down when the car is put in reverse (for a time set by a variable resistor on the module) and then tilts the mirror back up for the same time (with a tweaker setting to make sure it returns to the same place). You have to set this manually once, and you may need to set it again after some repeated tilting (although I've been using if for a week and it still aligns perfectly). This won't work well if you have a multi-driver car. If you are interested, I can start a new thread on the weekend and give some directions, wiring diagrams and an "action" video. The one weakness I found is not the fault of the module. I set my mirrors fairly wide (cannot see the side of the car when driving) and Toyota (and a lot of others) don't give you enough downward tilt at the extreme outward tilt I use. Still, it is not bad - I can certainly see the curb better on that side.

I thought that maybe I'd experiment on my Jaguar. If you tilt the mirror down in reverse, it puts it back up to memory position when you put it in drive. But then I thought this module would drive the motor crazy. Why it just doesn't go down in the first place, who knows.

Maybe when I get some time, I'll rip into the Prius and try this module. It's only $60.

    Thanks!

Can you tell me where you got your lights and how much they cost? Also, where is Tommy located and what did he charge to install?

I received my set today and spent the last 1.5 hours reading all the posts... an hour ago, I said to myself I'm not going anywhere near the A pillar where the air bags reside to tap the blue wire... after reading more and more and more... i'm looking to go the A pillar route now. For people who spent hours on their backs looking for this elusive wire, i give you props. :)

What is the safest way to perform the A-Pillar tap?

Has anyone figure out the color or location of the dome light wire in the foot panel?

guys, did you ever figure this out? the first post on this thread still has the dome light tap method, was anyone ever able to find the wire to tap closer to the mirror?
also, it looks like Sigma now sells a complete kit (2 painted covers+lights) for $275.
what was the OP's kit? i'd love to get the puddle lights going, i think it's really cool.
    thanks all

I'm not sure if it's doable connecting it from the foot lighting in the higher trim levels. I had the package 2 and tap the ground wire from the A pillar - much easier than the one behind the ECU.

For the puddle lights I tapped the A pillar for one wire and then tapped the foot well lighting for the other puddle light wire.

Can you give us some feedback? I'm about to take the plung on this today. How many hours did it take? Any particular tips? Anything you came across that was different from the instructions...etcetc! Thanks! And which instruction was most compressive? The instructions here are for the folding mirrors so I'm wondering if the instructions were applicable...

I did a combination of both jdm mirror threads.. I looked at both of the 1st threads and decided which wires I would tap into from there.. Took me about 3 hours.. Because I was takin my time.. Next time it would take me about 2 hours.. Here are my tips..

Use the a pillar for one of the puddle.. There is a vid on how to take that out somewhere.. Here is a tip on how to take it off.. Pull the pillar right above your head if you are sitting down.. Ten you will see a black clip.. Turn the clip 90 degrees and then u can pull the pillar off..
I ran the passenger side puddle light wires to the driver side.. Wasn't too hard.. I took the glove box off and all the lower driver side panels out and used a coat hanger to pull the wires behind the radio .. For the other puddle light wire I connected it to the floor lighting.. Not sure where u can connect it if u dont have it..

All the other wire locations in these threads are spot on! Good luck!

Does Nigel's painting match the OEM BP color if I get the JDM turn singal set from him?
