I just bought the Exide battery, it will be another 2 weeks before I have it in hand. Will update later,,
    I really appreciate all responses.

After I get this problem solved, the next big project would be to change the language to English, maybe by doing a MFD swap, not sure yet...we'll see

I think the Exide is a good choice.

If I remember correctly there have been a number of people here on PC that have done the Japanese to English MFD swap.

Hope all goes well for you.

    update:
I installed a new Exide battery (measured 12.9V out of the box), cleared the dtc errors and these kept coming back immediately after clearing.

Then after a long drive I checked and these kept coming back immediately after clearing.

Any ideas? I'm not finding anything when I google the unknown codes in the second scan.
